That's not a bad idea for the parshot next round. Simchat is not that far away, so it would be easy to do. Just read each parshah, pick out any actual commandments, and we could discuss them. As you say, many don't apply to everyone. And others have several Rabbinical interpretations. We as Meshiachim are not bound by the edicts and precepts of Rabbinical Judaism. But we don't automatically discard the wisdom of the sages either. And we'll have to be careful, since some changed over time until Deuteronomy set the instructions more or less in stone. We could also discuss halachic matters pertinent to the reading. Halacha is a difficult subject for us at times. What do you think? Dan C

I've been doing this each year by myself. I always see something this year that I didn't notice last year. 🙃 LOL ... I was so tired of being told what applied to me that I got some colored pencils, created a legend, and now my Bible is very colorful. THEN you get to cross-reference to the Brit Chadasha and the Prophets. For instance, I was quite surprised by those commandments that carried the death penalty, for instance. 😳 I do learn from the Rabbinical sources, but I remember that though steeped in the text and culture, 1 CORINTHIANS 2:14, to a much lesser extent than a Gentile individual, pertains to anyone not born of the Spirit, even Jewish people. It's a very fine line for me but I'm quite aware that they have much to teach us. What I'm speaking to, though I didn't say it in my OP is this idea that there's a list for Jews and one for non-Jews. In any case, I look forward to the discussion. It will be fun!
