Here is an Aussie group, a couple of guys from Geelong in Victoria. We saw them perform a few weeks ago - they are very gifted musically, and believe in including the concept of "lament" in worship. They essentially only sing the Psalms, and, man, is it all there - pain, anger, joy, questioning - every emotion, involved in worship of our mighty G-d. In the performance we were at, there were people around us with gentle tears flowing, no hyped up emotion, just the word in worship, touching hearts. If you want to have a listen, go to www.sonsofkorah.com and look at the "discology" section. I think Sons of Korah are going to USA next year some time. I find them different to a lot of Christian groups. There is something raw and real about their music. It doesn't sound necessarily Jewish. They use a combination of different styles, but it is all Psalms. They get a lot of invitations to sing at Jewish weddings and BarMitzvahs. This was the group I was listening to when Psalm 137 about weeping by the rivers of Babylon really spoke to me (other post). Hope it blesses someone today. Shalom.
