“My ballot is casted for Eliyahu HaNavi and his vice-witness ( ) Enoch HaTzadik. I think so because these two men never died and every man must die. Every body must die, unless Enoch did die and when it said he was "taken up" it only meant his spirit. Can someone please elucidate on that for me. If that is the case than it will probably be Moshe Rabbenu and Eliyahu HaNavi”
“Can someone please elucidate on that for me”
I’ll try to add some insight to your choice.
“ I think so because these two men never died and every man must die
The general rule is all men will die the first death.
Hebrews 9:27 “And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment 28 So Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many.”
Psalms 89:48 “What man can live and not see death? Can he deliver his life from the power of the grave.”
There are exceptions to this rule as there are a few people who will not die the first death. Notably Enoch, Elijah, and those who are alive at Jesus second coming will never see death.
Genesis 5:24 “ And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.”/b]
II Kings 2:11 “ Then it happened, as they continued on and talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.”
I Thessalonians 4:16-17” “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus ‘we shall always be with the Lord.
I Thessalonians 4:15” For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep.
“Every body must die, unless Enoch did die and when it said he was "taken up" it only meant his spirit."
. One definition of appointed could be scheduled. Elijah and Enoch’s death were scheduled but not carried out, nor will be because God chose them as two exceptions for whatever reason He had. Some say they represent the class of people who are still alive at Jesus’s second coming as some say Moses represents the resurrected class. Moses represents the resurrected class because when Michael the archangel contended with Satan for Moses body it was for purpose of resurrection.
Jude:9 “Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!”
When Elijah was taken up to heaven Elisha saw him go. Elisha saw Elijah go up not a spirit go up. Elijah told Elisha he would receive a double portion of Elijah’s spirit if he saw him taken away. The prophets from Jericho said “Elijah’s spirit rests on Elsiha. When Jesus ascended into heaven His disciples saw Him ascend not as a spirit but with an immortal body. It is the same for everyone including Enoch and Elijah the immortalized body ascends to heaven not a conscious spirit.
II Kings 2:9-11 “……….Elijah said to Elisha,”Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you? Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.” So he said, “You have asked a hard thing. Nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you; but if not, it shall not be so. 11 Then it happened, as they continued on and talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven II Kings 2:15 “Now when the sons of the prophets who were from Jericho saw him, they said, “The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.”………..
Luke 24:50 “And He led them out of Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. 51 Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven.”
Elijah, Enoch and those alive at Jesus second coming will receive their immortal bodies without dying the first death. Once immortality has been received the person cannot die.
I Corinthinans 15:51 “ Behold, I tell you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed 52 in a moment in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall all be changed 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.”
I Corinthinians 15:54 “So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written;
“ O Death where is your sting/
O Hades, where is your victory?”
. It is the same for everyone including Enoch and Elijah the immortalized body ascends to heaven not a conscious spirit.
Every living man, bird, cattle, beasts, and creeping things contain a spirit which is the breath found in the nostrils which is called the breath of life.
Genesis 2:7 “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living being.
Genesis 7:21-22 “And all flesh died that moved on the earth: birds and cattle and beasts and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, and every man. All in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, all that was on the dry land, died.”
The breath of life is the spirit that returns to the Lord. The body breaks down to dust and the spirit (breath of life) returns to God who first gave it. If God made Adam from dust and upon death the body returns to dust it seems logical that if God also gave the breath of life (the spirit) it also would return to it’s original source which is God.
Genesis 2:7 “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.
Ecclesiastes 12:7 “Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, And the spirit will return to God who gave it.”
Even Jesus had a spirit. When Jesus gave up His spirit to God, He stopped breathing. The connection is between breathing and the spirit.
Luke 23:46 “ And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, “Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit”. Having said this, He breathed His last.”
I hope this adds some to your understanding!
