Well, Reuel already knows me a little.
I was saved when I was 9 years old, and my education in Greek and the Scriptures started then. I drifted away for a while about 20 years ago, but just as the prodigal son, I returned. I've committed my life to Christ since then and am working for Him.
I came to Alaska to be a missionary, but am currently associate pastor and trustee at a local church. I broke my leg and cannot go into the bush. I have been through the initial interview for a church in a remote village, but cannot go for the 2 week trial run until I heal completely. I may not be healed until winter, so I may not be able to go until next Spring. They have been without a pastor for over 2 years now, but the church is being held together by the local women. (The men drink a lot and the last pastor stole the stove out of the parsonage...) I don't know if that's where God wants me, but I am going for a trial run and pray about it. (I have been offered a place in Minnapolis, also, but first of all, I don't want to leave Alaska and second of all, I don't want to go to Minneapolis (It gets cold there)).
I'm 6'9" tall, so statistically, I'm one of the 18 tallest people in the state. I don't look like your typical preacher, either. Up until my injury, I've always been an adventurerer, racing motorcycles, skydiving, hot air ballooning and anything else that is fun. Ironically, I've never been injured seriously doing any of these (I had to take an ambulance ride once after a crash at Talladega GP Raceway, but it was cautionary), but I was walking and slipped on a wet spot and broke my ankle in 3 places and tearing every single ligament between my foot and leg, which required a steel plate, 8 screws, a pin and countless stitches both internal and external. I have learned that going 180 MPH on a motorcycle is quite safe, but walking is not.
If you're interested in the web site that I administrate, it features audio messages by A. E. Wilson, who was director of the Southern Hebrew Mission from 1950-1980 and writings by myself and others. It's www.hopeofglory.net.
I'm going down to the lower 48 soon, so if I disappear for a while, don't worry. I'll be back.
