Glad to have found this message board. Please overlook any spelling errors as often I just don't care as long as I get my point accross.
My name is Matthew Dunham and back in the 80's I started a BBS called Rock Island (ON) line. Does anyone here recall this board? I started an echo called Cult Watch. I grew too big for me to handle and I gave up moderatorship. My web site is yeshuaway.org. My email is matthew@yeshuawy.org. I provide Bible studies on any topic. I start most of the time with the Words in red and work out from there.
Let me relate to you my walk with Christ. After many years denying the existence of God, I created a situation where I had to finally decide whether or not I was going to believe. I made this decision the back of a police car. I didn’t know it at the time but G-ds plan had put me in an impossible situation where I had no choice but to turn to him. Praise His Holy Name.
I imagine everyone who gets in a situation they have no control over says a prayer to get out of it. Like they say, there are no atheists in a war zone. I have always believed in putting out 100% effort in every thing I did including being a non-believer. So my jailhouse conversion was different.
In order to be a non-believer I had to have a reason. It seemed every time I heard a preacher, he was distorting the words from the Bible. I would read along to see he’d stop reading it just as he was coming to condemning his beliefs to say only what he was trying to sell to his followers. Most preachers, in my opinion, are only after keeping their congregation happy. Never saying anything controversial to insure the cash flowing in.
If I was going to believe in G-d I was going to do it right. Once I made the decision to believe I was led by the Spirit to find out what G-d and Yeshua were all about. Yeshua DIED for His beliefs and what He was teaching fellow Jews. By reading and understanding the Word of G-d in the Bible without listening to the doctrines of man.
If I couldn’t find truth on my own then I wasn’t going to believe. I prayed to G-d to help me understand. While I was locked up in the jail I started reading a King James Bible. For those of you who have tried to read it, the Elizabethan English initially seems hard to wade through. You might get tired of trying to read it and give up. Some turn to a different translation in plain English and some give up on religion all together. But most scholars agree the King James Version is the closet literal translation in English.
Time past and I purchased a computer and Bible program and I started creating Bible studies. As the years have gone by I have learned the Christian religion we now have is only similar to the 'Way' Yeshua preached.
I would like to hear others opions on this as well as how much of the Old Testiment is relevant in light of Yeshua's crucifiction. I have been trying to stick to the Ten Commandments and I keep the Sabbath and do not keep the alterations of the faith instituted by Constantine.
I am amazed there are so many righteous sounding religions that have ignored the roots of their religion. But then again Yeshua taught many will be called but few chosen. And that on the day of Judgement Many will be surprised that even though they have done good works in His name they will be cast aside.
I am a man who has sought His will through His word, not the doctrines and traditions of man. I hope to find others of like mind. Please feel free to converse with me on any subject related to Yeshua.
