I'm sorry, my post ought to have gone under introductions!
I moved it for you. Because of the way the system works it will say it is my post, but I have not changed anything. This is still your (jasmine's) post. Dan

jasmine, your position is similar to most stories I’ve heard from people coming into Messianic Judaism. I was raised Southern Baptist and my mothers side is Assemblies. I fell away with a vengeance as a teenager and was apostate for many years. Had I not found Hebrew Roots, then later Messianism I’m sure I would now be irrevocably lost.
You are correct. Christianity has so many false teachings and doctrines it boggles a thinking persons mind. And the Jewish sects of today barely resemble those of Yeshua’s day. Messianic Judaism tries to hold to what 1st century Judaism was; what they believed. And like anywhere from 1/3rd to 2/3rds of 1st cen Jews (estimates vary) we absolutely believe in Yeshua! We hold Him to be both Messiah and eternally God.
Only you can find your position. Messianic Judaism can be a long, lonely road. But for many, the journey is worth it. We seek the truth in scripture, not what the church fathers or the rabbis said. We do not hold either the church or contemporary Judaism to completely wrong; but neither are we bound by their edicts, decrees, or judgements. We seek the faith of the Apostles by rightly discerning what they wrote. We also believe God when He said in both the Old and New Testaments that He does not change, and so we hold the entire 66 book Bible to be true and still applicable. When Yeshua said not a stroke would be removed from Torah, we take Him at His word also.
I pray you will find the truth. If we can help, please don’t hesitate to ask.
In Yeshua, Dan

Thanks so much for your kind reply, Dan. I realise I have much to learn and need to change. Ìd be really grateful if it's possible to point me in the direction of a good foundational course that i can take online, or by correspondence? israelbiblecenter.comCost is minimal and they are pretty solid. torahresource.com Very solid, and a lot of free articles. But very detailed and scholarly. Articles can be long and difficult to follow and understand.

I looked at israelbiblecenter and discovered they had podcasts. However, I'm in difficulty because I realise the situation I've been in is really serious and im struggling with issues around forgiveness, boundaries and acceptance. I feel I need to speak to someone in confidence. Has anyone any ideas? I've looked online for a congregation because I thought there was one local to me but haven't found a link. I guess I need to pray. I think i need to resolve this situation soon, but I feel I need some help to discern the right way ahead. Israel Bible Center also has several regular classes. They are well done and easy to understand.
As to speaking with someone in person about forgiveness, boundaries and acceptance , I'm not sure. If all else fails you may be able to find a Christian counselor. But finding a Messianic counselor might be difficult. And when looking for Messianic congregations you must unfortunately be careful Many tryto fly ou flag who are not. Check them out before committing, and if you need help we will be happy to assist. The first question to ask is do they believe in the deity of Yeshua, from everlasting to everlasting. If they even hesitate, hit the door running and don't look back.
