Now that I have registered and have access to Search feature,
... it seems that it was a mistake to come here. For not being an Ebionite is NOT in the rules.
Yet, my first search revealed this little gem, from the Global Moderator no less...
"...they are probably some type of Ebionite and not Messianic (though they often try to fly our flag to sucker people in)"
'Sucker' into what, exactly? observance? You might just want to consider that any members of this forum who are observant ARE Ebionites, according to Rome. Consider that many of the cries of heresy by Rome are leveled because of the 'sin' of observance.
You will ban me now, I'll wager.
Shalom

'Sucker' into what, exactly? observance? Well, since you came here instead of an Ebonite forum I'd say you may be having a bit of trouble finding what you want. Could this be because they do not openly claim what they are? I've met several, both online and in person. Never once did they tell me or when asked admit what they were or what they believed until later. They tend to be very knowledgeable, and some seemed to be well trained, but I have to say dishonest in their practices. Only after lengthy discussion did they try to convince me of the creation of Yeshua, and I always got the impression they thought they were springing a trap. I rescued one friend from a group of Ebionites. He had just kicked a Morphine habit cold-turkey (he got it from prescribed meds). They took advantage and preyed on him at a time he was really messed up. We (me and the Ebionim) almost came to blows, but I convinced him to leave. So yes, I'd say "sucker people in" is an accurate statement. Sorry if that offends, but you did ask. You might just want to consider that any members of this forum who are observant ARE Ebionites, according to Rome. Consider that many of the cries of heresy by Rome are leveled because of the 'sin' of observance. We're not really that concerned with what Rome thinks. So many true heresies came from them in the first place.
You will ban me now, I'll wager. No, not as long as you abide by the rules. However if you'd like, I can remove your account (by request).
Shalom
The following would be the rules that apply:
13. There are certain doctrines that (although we may discuss to expose what the Moderators consider to be Biblical error) will not be allowed to be freely promoted here at the forum. Any doctrine or teaching that is not consistent with the following statement of faith shouldn't be promoted at Ahavat Elohim Forums.
** If someone is simply trying to learn about such things, we welcome sincere questions regarding the validity of the following statements of faith, but those on a mission to disprove these statements of faith and draw others away from these beliefs will have a very short time on the forum.
8. We believe that the books of B'resheet (Genesis) to the book of Revelation to be the inspired word of God. Therefore, all authority when discussing spiritual matters will be decided by the words contained in these books and is the basis for discussion taking place on the forum. Any teaching that attempts to invalidate these books of the Bible as being the authoritative inspired word of God will not be acceptable here on the forum. Some Ebionites do in fact want to delete parts of the 66 book Bible.
~ STATEMENT OF FAITH
...
*We believe in one God, who manifests Himself in three forms: The Father, The Messiah (The Son), and The Holy Spirit. Because Yeshua The Messiah is HaDavar, the very word of God (see Yochanan/John chapter1), we consider him to be a part of the God of Yisra'el. Thus, we consider The Messiah to be a manifestation of God in the flesh.
The Shema ("Hear O Yisra'el, YHVH our God, YHVH is one" Deut. 6:4) teaches that God is one (Echad / a compound unity). God is the creator and ruler of all things. He alone has made, does make, and will make all things. He alone is our God. He was, He is and He will be. He is the first and the last, the Aleph (Alpha) and the Tav (Omega), and besides Him there is no other.
If Yeshua is a manifestation of Adonai, then He is and was necessarily God-Eternal. This means He cannot have been a created being- a doctrine that is at odds with any Ebonite theology since the one unifying characteristic of all Ebionites is the belief that at some point He was created. I've heard many different theories/theologies on this- created when light was created, created just before creation of the world, and the most common of course created at the virgin birth (or its sister theology it was not a virgin birth).
...
As long as forum members respect the rules and guidelines described above, they don't have to personally agree with every statement of faith/belief found here. I hope that these guidelines are fair and will be simple to follow. If they are not, people that cause trouble and who are contentious may have their forum account suspended without notice. So no, we do not ban people just for disagreeing. For disagreeing and insisting on teaching, yes. But we've had unbelievers, Christians, Muslims, and a few others here in the past. Some were even certifiably either insane or demented. None were banned until they decided to flaunt the rules and tell us their beliefs were the "true faith" and we were all supposed to follow them.
As for my beliefs on Ebionism, I've had several face-to-face encounters with Ebionites. Most ended amicably, a few did not. I absolutely disagree with the theology, but I do agree they (you) have the right to believe as they like. However here I am obliged to uphold the rules of the parent synagogue. We have some who are new to or not strong in the faith that come here, and they can be easily led astray. We do not wish to be the instrument of their destruction. Moreover, all here are looking to advance their knowledge in Messianic Judaism, not argue every different theology or religion that comes along. I am sure there are forums for Ebionites if that is what you are looking for. This is not one of them, however if you want to learn (and again, you do not have to agree), you are welcome to stay. But if you'd prefer I can delete your account. Let me know.

I do not know what 'Ebionite' groups you have interacted with. Consider that anyone can make such a claim. Maybe I've been fortunate not to run into such, the only Ebionites I know in person are my family. What family was left...
I've had no issues mixing with other Messianic Jews in the past, even was a founding member of a Shul. Until Edomites came calling of course...
This isn't the first forum I've tried. The first was a Xian forum which Google ranked highest for a MJ search. .... turned out they won't let Jews post there, only 'Hebrew Xians'.
Next was a major Religious forum. But despite a sub-forum devoted to MJ I am alone there.
Do I have differences to you? Of course, but 'delete' parts of the Roman Canon? No, they are all valuable, but for us only Matthew can be considered on par with other Nevi'im, most of the rest are Ketuvim.
Most I would do is insist upon sticking to the words of Yeshua found in Matthew.
Seems the waters are poisoned here for me because of other Ebionites, if they were in fact such. Trust me, I searched your rules. You called out Kariates by name but not Ebionites. I would have honored a restriction on us, after my experience with the 'loving' Xian forum.
As my thread title says, please update your rules to exclude us, right below Karaites. Then you may delete my account.
Member account deleted as per his request. Dan C
