In today's IFCJ blog: www.ifcj.org/learn/holy-land-moments/daily-devotionals/god-is-with-us-no-matter-whatIt reads "God doesn’t prevent us from experiencing difficulties, but His promise is that He is there with us, no matter what." That "no matter what" I'm not sure might be the right message as this suggests that God stands by and watches while the bad things happen to us and does nothing? Every time I hear someone say they do not want to hear about God after seeing a loved one die slowly of Cancer or whatever and no amount of heartfelt praying helped them, what do you say to those people?

For believers there is comfort in knowing that a loved one who believes and dies will be resurrected (along with us) into a new and eternal life. That is a comfort for the dieing as well. Whatever we are going through, there is comfort in knowing God is in control. We might not understand why we must endure some things, but God does have a reason. There is comfort in knowing He is in control.
