This will be my first time commenting over this portion of the Talmud, but, as we know, commentaries are what they are "commentaries" over the Word of God. Some might not agree with them. I always try to analyze extra-Biblical texts in light of the written and Yeshua our Messiah.
Mishnah 1;
The sages of the Great Assembly have said three things; "Be deliberate in judgment, raise up many disciples,
and make a fence around the ." What is "BEING DELIBERATE IN JUDGMENT?" it is to be fair and honest and not take sides, as to prefer one person over another, yet "judge" according to the Word of God, not in a condemning way, since we have no right to condemn anyone, only offer a solution (judge) in accordance to the Bible, using sound, Biblical advice/judgment.
"RAISE UP MANY DISCIPLES" Yes, one task of every born-again believer is to train up those who are young in the faith, teaching the basics of salvation and of God's Word, but they shouldn't be considered "our disciples" but the "disciples of the Living Word" through us. The limelight should NEVER be focused on us, only on Yeshua.
What is it to MAKE A FENCE AROUND THE ? Some have taught that the "fences" are traditions or extra commandments that stand in the way of God's appointed commandments. That, in order to break God's commandment, you have to break "our" commandment first. Like, "Do not climb this tree!" so someone puts a sign that says "DO not walk on the grass" So if someone were to "climb the tree" they have to first "walk on the grass to get to the tree". Yet I would look at the "fence" a little differently.
A "fence" is a surrounding, it can take the form of a square or a circle. The letter "Chet" symbolizes a "fence" So what is the purpose of a fence? it is to keep things in and keep other things out. I see "Yeshua" as the "Fence around the " He is the "Living " (life), and everything within the surrounding fence is; holiness, righteousness, all that is clean, pure, kosher, etc.. outside the fence is all that is unholy, impure, evil, unclean, etc...When we accept Yeshua as our Messiah, we enter inside the fence. I see his two arms surrounding the and his two hands open to accept us, his hands being the only entrance to go inside. The Fence can be the itself, which teaches us to understand the difference between the clean and the unclean, the pure and impure, holiness and sinfulness, and keep those things that are opposite of what God wants from us, "outside" the fence of our life.
MISHNAH 2: Shimon HaTzdik used to say: The world exists by these three things; By the , by the Temple Service, and by deeds of lovingkindness.
Yes, by the , the "Living " created the Heavens and the earth, and the "Living " came down to earth to teach what was in the written , so that it might be instruction to us all, to point us to a personal relationship with YHVH through Yeshua, who is that same "Living "
Since there is no more temple, there is no more temple service, yet there is "Avodat Kehilot" (the services of all the messianic congregations in all parts of the world) All believers should look forward to joining with other believers every Shabbat, and also, fellowship on Sundays at Bible-believing, Bible-teaching churches. King David wrote; "I was happy when they said let us go into the House of the LORD" and Rav Shaul (Apostle Paul) admonishes us "not to forsake the assembly of believers"
There is always "Gemilut Hasadim" (deeds of lovingkindness) there are always those deeds we can perform to show others that we care; visiting the sick, the ones in prison, giving to the poor (food, clothing) When we put all these three things together, we live in a world that honors Messiah Yeshua, yet the world itself exists only through the grace and mercy of YHVH.
