No they are about helping the disabled, I have not seen anything which reflects God. I see what you mean though. However, are we commanded to give tithes only for reiigious purposes and not use to give to the poor, the hungry, the homeless, the sick and similar causes? According to this in Deuteronomy 14 in this resource: pushpay.com/blog/20-bible-verses-about-tithing/If the above is accurate then that is suggesting to me that yes, the tithe can also be used to feed the poor e.t.c?

However, are we commanded to give tithes only for reiigious purposes and not use to give to the poor, the hungry, the homeless, the sick and similar causes? According to this in Deuteronomy 14 in this resource: pushpay.com/blog/20-bible-verses-about-tithing/If the above is accurate then that is suggesting to me that yes, the tithe can also be used to feed the poor e.t.c? "The tithe was an obligatory offering from the law of Moses requiring 10 percent of an Israelite’s firstfruits. Because God provided the harvest, this first part was returned to Him. It was a reminder to Israel that all things we have are His. It was a show of thankfulness for His provision. It also provided for the Levitical priesthood, festivals, and the needy." This from your site, along with the quote you give say that the tithe went to the priests to be distributed. It was for the poor in Israel, so they presumably already knew of the God of Israel. Also it is a biblical principle that you take care of your own, and this provision does just that. And if it went to help a sojourner then there was a witness since the help came from the priesthood of Israel. Giving to the poor and needy may make us feel good, and if we have the resources to give that over and above our other obligations that is fine. But giving God's portion to make us feel better is, in my opinion wrong. I give even my extra to outreach in my own community where I know the word goes out with the help. Then I give to Messianic orgs in or providing help to Israel. But the 1st 10% goes directly to my synagogue. And all of it, once given belongs entirely to God. I have no say in how it is used.

Ok so giving to the needy would involve having to give outside of your tithe, is this the final word on this scripturally? BTW, giving to "feel good" is never MY purpose whether in tithe or offerings. My purpose is to help those "who needs it". Come to think of this now, my monthly tithing to Israel and the Holocaust Survivors would be wrong.

Ok so giving to the needy would involve having to give outside of your tithe, is this the final word on this scripturally? Remember, this is my interpretation; my opinion. But if you think about it I'm guessing you will see the logic in it even if you disagree. Your tithes are between you and God. The best any of us here can do is try to help you maintain that relationship the way scripture tells us.
BTW, giving to "feel good" is never MY purpose whether in tithe or offerings. Nor mine. But it still does give me that endorphin reaction nonetheless; and that can be sort of "addictive."
My purpose is to help those "who needs it". Come to think of this now, my monthly tithing to Israel and the Holocaust Survivors would be wrong. That depends. If it is to an org that also witnesses for Yeshua then (again, my opinion) it is ok to give to Israeli relief. And witnessing doesn't have to mean beating them over the head with their Bibles (so to speak). Sometimes just letting them know that there are believers who care enough to help and who are available to talk when they are ready is the best witness. But for me, when I give, that message has to be out front: it's an organization of Messianic believers; money and goods are donated by other believers; and we stand ready to talk with you about Yeshua any time.
I give each month to an organization which ministers to and helps Holocaust survivors as well as running orphanages in Israel. They do other outreach ministries, but those 2 are their main focus. They are not in anyones face about Yeshua, but they do make known who and what they are and that they are available to talk. So giving to Israeli relief is not necessarily wrong. But if tithes, I try to make sure it is not just physical "relief," but spiritual too.

All great explanations and advice, thanks! With me Dan, whenever I don't see the scriptures as being clear to me on certain topics, I follow the voice in me and do as it leads me.
BTW, to update, thanks a million for the referral on that Organization in Israel, it is exactly what I was seeking. Brian is a great guy, his vision is similar to mine [Bless him]. He responds to my text/calls right away and his Organization is more personally connected to the survivors and other causes so the tithes or most of it goes directly to the survivors.
