Pimsleur is a great Hebrew language program. I have learned much of my conversational Hebrew from it.
Shalom uv'rachah,

I have been using the Pimsleur basic modern Hebrew program for the last month and its been coming along well but its hard at times when you dont have another person to talk to other than yourself. Kip, ma'shlomcha? How far along are you? I have the Pimsleur system as well. I'm just getting into it, and honestly I get confused a lot; but that is my normal state, so may be just me. They do a good job of breaking things down though, so if you wanted to try some conversations I bet we could transliterate enough to be understood (and probably provide some of the linguists here with a bit of hilarity as well ). Shalom, l'itraot. Dan C

Shalom Yiska,
That is wonderful to hear that you have endeavored to learn the lashon hakodesh (holy tongue). What a blessing it is. It is well worth the effort to stick with it.
L'chaim b'Yeshua!

If this is a Hebrew only thread... I must know more than I thought. So far every word everyone has posted I can read and understand. Seriously, though I do not know as much as I should, I am amazed by the language I believe was God's language in the beginning. That alone explains its effects on humanity down through the ages (even those who spoke or even knew little about the existence of Hebrew). There are websites that post the various words used in many other languages whose origins are Hebrew. Notice the origins of the pictographs being that of earthy, practical, purposeful (direct to the point) and yet beautiful at the same time. Called Phoenician but obviously Hebrew.

I have not researched this for myself, but Dr. Chuck Missler teaches that the Holy City (Jerusalem, not Rome) makes like the marker for an international dateline of sorts concerning languages. To the east of the city the languages are pictoral. To the west linear. Some say he said also the right to left and left to right as well, but many eastern languages read right to left and at least one top top bottom... so I doubt Missler said the latter.

In general this would probably hold true (from my limited understanding- not a linguist). It could be someone quoting what Dr. Missler was saying as a generalized statement as an absolute. It happens.

P.S.- see, I can be nice to evangelicals!
