I had a set of antique tefillin given to me by an elderly lady, she said that her grandfather had given them to her, so they must be from the 1890s or early 1900s.
Happened that when I went to use them today, how can I say, they had "exploded" the boxes where the parchments are had fallen apart, don't know why. They were inside the tefillin bag as usual. Maybe age caught up with them.
I need to bury them, but for now, I taped them up with black electrical tape, but they really aren't kosher anymore, IS there anyone out there who might send me a set of tefillin? I really can't afford $200 for a new set, I would appreciate a used set. My wife and I are low-income and are semi-retired, we support our son and daughter in El Salvador, they do full-time ministry work.
So, if someone can send me a pair, that would be a great Mitzvah, if you can, I will send you a private email with my address.

Did you ever get your teffilin?
I make teffilin loosely based on those found at Qumran. Not as fancy as what you'd get at a Judaica store, but much more serviceable and easier to maintain. I'm finally set up again where I can work. PM me if you are interested.

Oh Alon, Just saw your message, Yeah, I know, 4 years later. A guy who was in prison, who is now part of the Congregation in Houston, made some leather covers. I took some square blocks of wood, about 1.5 inches square, and hallowed out the middle with a drill, folded up the scriptures as tightly as possible, and stuffed them inside, then he pasted the leather around the boxes. Then later, our rabbi gave me another set, now I have two, I wish I were in the habit of using them daily. I live in El Salvador now, the rabbi of a small Messianic congregation
