So Father's day is tomorrow, normally I would call up a few elders to wish them Happy Father's Day. Something now has changed inside of me as lately I have been getting more and more peeved with taking part in any celebration [Father's Day, Mother's Day, birthdays, graduations, xmas]. Is there any scripture with forbids the celebrating of these occasions?

So Father's day is tomorrow, normally I would call up a few elders to wish them Happy Father's Day. Something now has changed inside of me as lately I have been getting more and more peeved with taking part in any celebration [Father's Day, Mother's Day, birthdays, graduations, xmas]. Is there any scripture with forbids the celebrating of these occasions? As I understand it, the things that would make a holiday problematic are if they incorporate pagan practices, do they fall on days which are holy to God, were they meant to replace His moedim. If any of those, then no they should not be observed. A day honoring a person such as birthdays or fathers day can be problematic. There is nothing in scripture specifically saying not to observe them, however there are negative examples concerning them (with no positives). A day honoring all fathers, well, I'm just not sure. I don't, but I'd say go with however God leads you on this one. I do keep Thanksgiving, and I keep the "non commanded" (in ) feasts. But again, you do as you feel led. Dan C
