The Promise

I am going to put this up, even though it is Christian based and so contains some false doctrine. There is also a lot of latent anti-Semitism. A significant part of the cast are related to me, and if you asked them they'd say they were not in the least anti-Semitic. Some are very supportive of my being Messianic, and none have given me any grief over it. But the anti-Semitism is built into Christian doctrine. I used to tell people when I'd loan them my copy of the production "This is about my cousin, Jesus, and his manager ... Bill!" My cousin Randy plays "Jesus," and his brother Bill is the narrator. He also managed the production at the time. This video is about 20 yrs old. Since Randy and myself were born just hours apart, I guess that sort of dates me, huh?

And before anyone asks: No, I can not sing, and I cannot dance. But I did play "Satan" in a semi professional production of the Promise for a few seasons several years back. I think I did at least as good a job, but then I am biased. Bill and Randy grew up singing gospel hymns, and no one could do them better back then! But I once told Bill he went and got professional song train'n' and it ruined him! Really, they both could sing better back then- more down home. But the whole family is musical like that. "Peter" is the son of Bill and Randy's sister Barbara. He's very sought after as a solo singer.

Feel free to discuss the doctrinal errors and anti-Semitic slant in places. Also where it comes from. There is also some "poetic license," which means some things are presented a bit wrong so that the play flows better. Not really wrong, but out of sync or a bit crammed together. 

They haven't done this in years, which is probably why it hit the You Tube. Anyhow, if you want to know why I am crazy, confused, and just plain cussed-ornery, these are the people I grew up with! Enjoy!

Since this is Christian based, I will probably take it down in a day or so unless someone wants to use it as a vehicle to discuss some of the false theologies and/or latent anti-Semitism most of us grew up with in church.

I just thought some of you might like to meet the "tallented" side of my family.

I would like to watch it, but not sure when because I need to find the time. I remember when I was growing up people would say "there's just not enough time in the day". I thought they were crazy because I was always so bored and thought everybody was just wasting my time anyway. Now, with homeschooling and housework, I totally get it. I am never ahead of the game now they I'm playing it.
