Hello Everyone,
I would like to thank the Staff for unbanning me!
I would also like to humbly apologize for anyone that was offended by my comments a few years ago. I was brand new to Judaism/ Messianic Judaism as such I posed some very controversial questions in a very inappropriate way. I did not deserve to be unbanned but it was a testimony to the grace and kindness of the admins of the board that they accepted my Teshuvah in the spirit of Mashiach. Baruch Hashem.
Between now and then, I have grown in understanding, knowledge of Judaism, and definitely a respect for Messianic's. Which now more than ever, I believe is a work of the Ruach HaKodesh. and I will not abuse their kindness.
I currently serve as the Jewish Sponsor for the entire Jewish Community of the Prison where I work at. My duties include: Facilitating the Jewish Inmate Community with supplies, Study Materials, and assisting to resolve disputes with administrative staff where possible.
The range of Jewish Inmates is remarkable, we have about 3 Orthodox Jews, 1 Lubachaver (sp?), 1 Hareidi, 5-6 Reform Jews, and easily over 100 Messianic Jews (to include 1 Messianic Rabbi) and the number of Messianic Jews grows every day. The Messianic population of Oklahoma where inmates are concerned is growing rapidly, so much that, without any need for assistance they easily supply their own feasts, kiddush, build their own sukkah's, and have their own study programs. Truly the Messianic movement is growing amazingly, and it has been a great delight to be able to assist them where I can.
As fate would have it, I am required to get very deep in to study just to keep up with (messianic's mostly), in learning and study of the , and The Talmud, Midrash, Chumash, Siddur, and Tanya. But quite honestly, I am woefully inadequate of this position, I just happen to be the only Jewish Correctional Officer in this facility. I am always hoping, one with more knowledge and learning will come and replace me ! There is a Messianic woman, very sweet lady who goes to a local Messianic congregation but she is a nurse, so she is unable to sponsor them.
It's my hope that, this forum will permit me to better assist the inmate population in performing this task.
As for my personal beliefs, well I am still working on that. I keep the traditions of my mother, when at all possible and try to learn in humility. Some say I am Messianic, others say I am Orthodox, I like to think I can learn from both without deciding which one will become the master of my identity.
I can say, that I consider myself a Talmudim of Rabbi Yehudah ben Shomeyr (Natsarim Judaism), and he is indeed a close friend though we have little time to talk, as I work 6-7 12 hour shifts. Right now I have no one to teach me, and I am certainly no expert, just a servant of other Jews, which I find at present is most fitting.
Thanks for reading!
