We are about 4 weeks away from Simchat (Thur, 12 Oct 2017) and I think we will try something different this year. Myself and another brother from our synagogue are going to alternate weeks and do a d'rash from either the par'shah, the haftara or the B'rith Chadasha readings. Or from all of them- whatever we want to do. I have both his and the Rabbi's permission to post theirs here; and of course when it is my turn I'll post mine. But this way you won't be just getting my views. The other person doing this has some great insights, so I am looking forward to this project. We may bring others on board from various other synagogues in our organization, so it may morph and develop as we go. Just a preview of what is coming. Also there is no reason why anyone who has an insight from the readings cannot post it. Quite the opposite! We encourage not only posting these but discussing whatever is posted. Dan C

This coming Shabbat is the first reading in the new cycle: Name of Par’shah: B’reshit- In the beginning
Par’shah: Genesis 1:1-6:8
Haftara: Isaiah 42:5-43:10
Brit Chadashah: Revelation 21:1–5; 22:1–5Everyone should read and ponder these during the week, then closer to Shabbat I'll post the portion. Please do not respond here, as this is just an announcement. All readings will be posted in the corresponding section, even though they might deal more with the Haftara or B'rith Hadashah readings. But this will keep the readings orderly. Everyone can respond with their thoughts on any part of the reading even if it doesn't pertain to exactly what is presented. Dan C
