Looking for book suggestions to help me prioritize and better tackle the overwhelming web of reviews, recommendations, you may also like, and people also bought on Amazon.
I have been on their a couple of times and always get overwhelmed with where to start. What are the "must haves" and what books do you guys find yourselves going back to the most in prayer and worship; besides scripture of course.

I guess it depends on the individual; what and how they like to study. A lot of women, for example, like those daily devotionals. I never cared for them. But to study and really get into the Word, I use a few reference books, Jewish, Christian and Messianic. And I use just as much discernment with one type as with the other.
Jewish New Testament Commentary- Dr. David Stern
Jewish Publication Society Study TNK
Works of Wiersby, Meyer, Unger, and Edersheim- all Christian and all have good points, but all are seriously flawed as well
I tend to stay away from some of the better known Christian commentators like Matthew Henry, John Gill and others- mostly because my wife stole them from me. But when they are wrong, they are just WRONG!
Strong's Concordance and Vine's Expository Dictionary are essential references, though again they are Christian and both can be very wrong- especially Strong's.
After those, I have shelves of books on various topics from Messianic and Hebrew Roots authors. But the ratio of books of this sort thrown out to those kept is probably three or four to one. Some of the better books though:
Mishna and the Words of Jesus- r. R Blizzard
Understanding the Difficult Words of Jesus- David Bivin and R Blizzard Jr
New Light on the Difficult Words of Jesus- David Bivin
Isaiah 53 Explained- Dr. M Glaser
Hidden Treasures- Joseph Shulam (must read)
Anything by Dr. F Seekins if you want to play with Hebrew words (and aggravate most linguistic scholars).
For men, anything by Christian authors Ed Cole and John Eldredge (but I won't listen to JE's DVD's because his voice and mannerisms just grate on me)
I have a few DVD's but really, I prefer a book I can write in and if necessary rip out pages from ... just me- I'm "Old School."
