Here's what I used to think, no one knows the birth date of Jesus so we all should celebrate the life of Jesus every single day of our lives but is it a sin to put up a xmas tree for the kids, give them presents, sing xmas carols in remembrance of Jesus so celebrate the entire xmas season with all the good it brings if YOUR purpose is to simply celebrate the life of Jesus? I never knew about xmas and worshipping sun gods e.t.c, I only knew it as a time to celebrate Jesus so I wondering if God will drop the hammer on anyone only for celebrating the life of Jesus? No. The issue is continuing to convolute truth once you know it and the general process of sanctification (being set apart). Now we know the truth and we choose to act on it. To not act on it would be rebellious against G-d and a sin against other people as we would just knowingly be participating in and encouraging an unholy lie that profanes Him. Now they may truly not know any better, but that leads right back to us who do then doesn't it.... As G-d gives us more knowledge, He challenges us to grow in it. As we continue to gain more knowledge, we will be faced with more choices to act upon what G-d says or just do what's easy and makes sense to the world. We are separating ourselves from the world because that's what G-d's people are called to do and He will show us what that means more and more as we continue to search and grow. Refusing to participate in Christmas is one way we have to preserve and promote the truth and G-d's holiness while setting ourselves apart for His will.

Actually there is a thread on that somewhere in the archives. I'll see if I can find it. Meanwhile, the gist of the thread is that Yeshua was born on Sukkot and conceived on Chanukkah. And Chanukkah is actually a delayed Sukkot, since they didn't get to observe Sukkot that year due to fighting a war and the Temple not yet liberated. So the Jews (albeit unwittingly) celebrated both the conception and birth of Yeshua, even before He was born! And Sukkot lasts seven days, and Chanukkah eight! Not just one day. So I'll trade Xmas in for Sukkot AND Chanukkah any time!
And only Hashem could orchestrate something like that; conceived and born on the same holiday; yet the conception was on the holiday of the miracle of the lamps (lights/Menorah) and born on the feast of Tabernacles- and so the Light of the World came and tabernacled with us ... can Santa Clause do better than that?
