The following is condensed from an article in the latest "Shoresh" newsletter from Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein and the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews:
"How does one participate in Holocaust Remembrance Day?"
First off set aside time to pray for survivors of the Shoa, many of whom live in abject poverty.
Stand and be counted, saying "Never again!" With anti-Semitism on the rise worldwide, reaching critical levels in Europe and the Ukrain, the same circumstances that allowed it to happen once are again taking shape. Jews across Europe are being targeted in Synagogues, on the streets, and children are even berated publically by teachers. The Ukrain is seeing the type of threats that happened in the pograms of the late Czarist government. "The challenge is whether the civilized world has the courage to stop the anti-Jewish hatred which is growing daily."
Another good suggestion is to read the book of Esther. One person, placed by God and with the courage to act can make a difference. "As you read of the triumph of God's people over their foes, give thanks for His providential care of His ancient people."
These are good things to do at any time, but particularly on Yom HaShoa, Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Holocaust Remembrance Day (Yom HaShoah), 27Nissan, begins in the evening of Wednesday, May 4 and ends in the evening of Thursday, May 5 this year (5776/2016).
This is the day commemorating the victims of the Holocaust in the camps and ghetto uprisings. The actual name of the day is “Yom Hashoah Ve-Hagevurah”— in Hebrew the "Day of (remembrance of) the Holocaust and the Heroism." It marks the anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising, and is set a week after the end of Passover/Unleaven Bread and a week before Yom Hazikaron (Israeli Memorial Day for fallen soldiers).
Many Meshiachim, especially those who were raised Jewish, mark this day in some way. Synagogue services, communal meals, or just taking the time to pray for Israel and the Jewish people are examples. Some also watch Holocaust themed documentaries or read from accounts of survivors; or just take the time to contemplate the depravity man is capable of descending to. Six million Jews killed, and this was only a drop in the bucket compared to all the deaths of WWII. And while the Jewish people say “never again” with regards to their own people, Christians and Christian nations turn a blind eye to a worse genocide of Christians in the Mideast taking place right now!
These, I think, are things we should ponder even if they do make us uncomfortable. We like the Jews should take up the cry “Never again!” Dan C

A little late, but today is Yom Hashoah. I apologize for not getting this up sooner, but it's been pretty hectic here.
