I just received an email from the parent synagogue. Rabbi Reuel Dillon is taking a sabbatical, and one of the elders, Elder Y'hoshua, will be filling in for him. Our Messianic Rabbis, the ones who are truly called to ministry, are overstretched. I honestly do not see how they don't burn out quickly, especially those who, like R Reuel have young families. As a PK myself, I can tell you that the families of far too many in ministry give up much. Especially in a new (renewed) movement, the need for their services far exceeds the availability of competent Rabbis. I do not know all the details, but I do know Rabbi Dillon needs our prayers; as does Elder Y'hoshua and the other elders as they move forward. I also know that the synagogue has faced financial difficulties recently, as well as loss of some key members. So please keep them all in your prayers as well.
As for the forum, we'll keep on as we are until I know more. We pretty much handle everything "in house" anyhow, but I will ask that we all make an extra effort now. This is a good group, so I do not foresee anything; except that the enemy will try and take advantage of the situation. I also ask that we keep faith with God and each other. Please, don't lose heart and leave, as your continued participation here is needed now more than ever.
I would also ask that if this ministry has helped you, consider making a small monthly donation to the parent synagogue. They haven't asked for it, and this is NOT a requirement for participation here. I, nor anyone else on the forum will ever know if you do or don't help. And if you cannot, for any reason, please do not feel guilty nor obligated. I hesitated to bring this to you, however not to do so would possibly be to rob some of the blessing of furthering both the synagogue there in Spokane and this forum.

Again, I am not privy to all the details of the goings on there. I am half the state away from them and attend a different synagogue, and frankly it isn't my place to get up too much in their business. But as a Messianic believer and as a participant in this ministry, I do think it appropriate to make known needs when they arise. And the most pressing need right now is your prayers. Pray R Reuel will get a much needed rest; and wisdom as he moves forward. Pray for the elders, especially Elder Y'hoshua as they lead the congregation there. And pray for the congregation there as they continue to face these challenges.
Baruch Hashem.

I hate to hear of this struggle as I am very fond of Chavurat HaMashiach. I am glad Rabbi Reuel is doing what he needs to take care of himself though. It sounds like we should encourage that more in the community in general. I know it's hard when there are so few leaders, but Yeshua even took time apart for Himself. It's just necessary. Thank G-d someone so dedicated stepped up to help. Prayers for Rabbi Reuel and family, Elder Y'hoshua, and the congregation. Strength, blessings, comfort and peace.

I just received this email from the parent synagogue. Thought I'd pass it on:
B”H
Shalom friends and family,
As many of you know, after almost twelve years of non-stop ministry work...I will be on sabbatical (taking a break) for the next few weeks, with the exception of our Pesach seder. With Adonai’s help, we do intend to continue on with the ministry of Chavurat HaMashiach. But, as some of you also know, we have been struggling to pay our ministry bills from month to month, and are even finding ourselves going into debt to do so. It is finally to the point where we realize that it is not getting better, and it is no longer sustainable at our current location due to not enough people attending and helping to meet those needs, although most who attend do faithfully give. And, I would like to thank all of you who have regularly and faithfully given to do what you could to support this work and ministry of Adonai.
At any rate, we will have to move our synagogue location back to our original location, where we will save a considerable amount of money each month, although we will still need our committed members to help us cover our ministry bills there. As many of you know, the future location will be about 10 minutes away from our current location at the 1000 square foot building that we originally built next to our house for the purpose of being a synagogue. It can seat 70+ people, and will easily be able to accommodate our current congregation. We will make some modifications there to prepare it for synagogue use again. This moving process will likely begin shortly after Pesach. Until then, Y’hoshua and Micha’el will oversee our Shabbat services and studies in my absence. If there is any question regarding any of this, please free to ask me directly via e-mail, on the phone, or in person. Please continue to pray for me, my family, our ministry team, and the ministry of Chavurat HaMashiach. We are very grateful for all of your support, encouragement, and for all of our faithful members. We look forward to seeing many of you at our Pesach seder!
Blessings to you in Yeshua our Messiah,
Rabbi Reuel Dillon Chavurat HaMashiach A Messianic Synagogue

I just thought you'd all like to know, there are no plans to shut down the forum. That has to be a concern any time the sponsors are having trouble. However the parent synagogue can still use prayer; and for that matter so can we here on the forum. And then there is me; I tend to need more prayer than most ... .
