I didn't know where else to put this.
I'm assisting a ministry in NYC that is reaching Hasids for messiah. We need help and prayer support from like minded believers.
Does anyone know of others who have a heard for Hasids and maybe even willing to move to reach them? I'm in NC and plan to move to NYC with a year's time.
In NY, there are no observant messianic congregations willing to do the work required and right now there are literally Just two or three people working among 65,000 Satmar Jews.
Thanks!

Sounds like you will have your work cut out for you! Of course I'll pray for you there. I'll also talk with the Rabbi and see if he has anything to share about Chassidim. We should have some antimissionary stuff if I can find it and get permission to post it.
Wish you all the best. Keep us posted. I have heard from different missionary groups that you have to work on them for over a year, and if all you get is one a year you are doing good. So don't get discouraged.

Hi Rivka - Only one particular ministry came to my mind when you mentioned reaching out to the Hasids in New York. It's probably safe to assume you'll be moving to Brooklyn (or Queens?). I would be happy to pray for you. If my circumstances were a bit different in life I think both my wife and I would consider going! My aunt lives there during most of the year, so I would have a connection. Anyways, would you be willing to Private Message me and tell me the organization you are going to be working with? I'm not sure if listing it publicly would violate the rules here... - garrett

Telling what organization you are with, and even some about what all they do is permissible. You may also post a link as long as it doesn't violate forum rules:
Soliciting money would usually be redacted as well. However telling about good works going on in the Messianic community is good for our motivation and morale.

It likely will be Brooklyn that I will move to. I'm currently in a courtship with the man spearheading the ministry. We are somewhat partnered with a ministry but i'd rather not post it publicly for safety reasons. they are a Christian organization but are very supportive of Jews living as Jews and founding a believing synagogue for Hasids. The goal of the organization is to reach unreached people groups in NYC with the top 12 being Jewish. We are also partnering with various messianic ministries and individuals who are supportive of this type of work. We are currently networking.
As for the work being done, it is largely on a personal level developing relationships one on one with various people within the Hasidic community. We are currently working on a massive mailing project using Yiddish materials. This mailing will go to about 2400 people in the hasidic community. So that's a little of what we're doing but we are really just starting this ministry. There's only two or three of us right now who are actively working.

I know of one organization, made up of many Jews, that operates out of Brooklyn. It's called Chosen People Ministries. They have been there for a long time. I think it's a good group - in terms of how they operate but I can't say for sure.
There are so many who reach out to other observant and non-observant Jews and mess it up royally. It's my opinion that the approach must be handled very delicately because those who believe Yeshua is THE Messiah and those who don't can come from dramatically different backgrounds.
My biggest question and concern for the observant Jew who accepts Yeshua is: "Now What?"
A person's spouse, family, congregation and entire community will likely disown the orthodox, ultra-orthodox or Hasid who accepts that Yeshua is the Messiah. And then the life identity crisis sets in. Life will have to start all over again. People will be sitting Shiva for the man or woman who accepts the "Christian" Messiah. I'm not kidding. So my heart goes out to the fortunate Jew who accepts Yeshua. There is good fortune in lacing one's very own scriptures together, leading to THE Messiah and trepidation in literally wondering, "where do I go now?".
I would love to hear about the responses, results and feedback you get from those you speak with. Even what has happened so far. This would include success stories and description of of things that went wrong. I'm truly curious how all of this works.
Hope you are well - garrett

I think it's a good group - in terms of how they operate but I can't say for sure. I have partnered with Chosen People Ministries to bring awareness of Judaism and their "Jewish Roots" to Christians. They are a very good organization; however they are Jews who've become Dispensationalist Christians. This means they teach a Jew who converts to some degree gives up his Jewishness (not completely though). They also teach against observance, especially for Gentiles.
You hit on a very good point here. Many converts fall easy prey to the anti-missionaries due to the lack of support and solid, based teaching. Someone who converts from Judaism to (hopefully) Messianism will need a strong support system in place. Everyone who accepts Yeshua needs support and teaching, same as a convert to any religion or even a different sect of your old religion. Only since as you point out, they will now be ostracized, they will need it even more.

Hello all,
I just wanted to put this out there as I will be moving to Brooklyn in March after I am married. We are planning to start our own home shul. if you hear of any believers who desire to live and observant lifestyle and have a heart to reach the Hasidic community... Please message me so that when the time comes we will be able to reach out to these people. There are no messianic observant congregations in New York at this time so hopefully this will meet a spiritual need in the city.

We don't get many here on this forum, obviously. But you never know- a post and a prayer, and maybe a miracle ... . Keep us posted too and we can pray the Ruach will lead people to you.
You'll need help. Are you going to reach out to Christians as well? To the Jew first, but even Rav Sha'ul usually traveled with a companion. You will have your husband, of course. But it can get lonely even for a couple. Another young couple to share the load and befriend you would be invaluable, even if they are new Gentile proselytes.
What you are doing is courageous, to say the least. I pray you will have success.

Indeed. I will keep you all updated. There is another young couple who is working with us in the same goal B"H so we are not alone! I'm hoping and praying more will come out of the woodwork as we continue on. As for reaching Christians, that is not our focus though if believers come with a desire to follow HaShem and His ways...we will not turn them away.

I will be keeping you in my prayers as well. So much excitement, changes, and challenges; but you seem well aware. G-d be with you and yours, and I look forward to hearing more from you as well!
