PARSHA: "TZAV" (command)
LEVITICUS 6:1-8:36 , JEREMIAH 7:21-8:3, HEBREWS 8:1-6
Here in this Parsha, we are looking at the different sacrifices and how we can relate them to our Messiah Yeshua. The Hebrew word is "Korban" (sacrifice) and "Korbanot" (plural form) and here we have the "Olah" (burnt offering) "Mincha" (the grain offering, the "Chatat" the sin/guilt offering. and the "Shalom" the peace offering.
How do these point to Yeshua? We see that they involve a sacrificed animal on the brazen altar, either a bull, goat, lamb, ram, they are all "perfect" animals, without blemish, and so was Yeshua, the "perfect, sinless God-become-man. The altar was made of hard wood covered with bronze, the wood can symbolize the humanity of God and the bronze..."judgment" Yeshua was "judged" for our sins in the "fire of judgment" the sacrifices were laid on wood, and so was Yeshua, laid upon a "cross of wood" the priest would splash the blood on the 4 corners of the altar and at the base of the altar. Yeshua was nailed to the cross, and his blood touched all 4 corners of the cross, and his blood ran down and concentrated at the base of the cross,
We also see the symbolism in the types of sacrifices;
Korban Olah: Yeshua the Sacrificial lamb, "Korban Mincha" Yeshua The Bread of Life. The grain offering was offered with oil and frankincense , Yeshua was the "Bread of Life" with the "Ruach Ha Kodesh" (Holy Spirit) who prayed to the Father on our behalf (Frankincense) "Korban Chatat" Yeshua the sacrifice lamb, who died for our sins and bore our guilt. "Korban Shalom" Yeshua Sar Shalom" (Yeshua Prince of Peace) this was an offering of joy, when one was healed of disease, when one received a blessing of some sort.
Many churches/synagogues get together and have BBQs in the parks, with their Sunday school / study classes, many will bring hot dogs, fajitas (beef for grilling) hamburgers, sausage (hopefully beef sausage) and Hispanic families bring tostadas, (fried tortillas) well, these are "Peace offerings" being grilled over and open fire, the only thing we don't do is pour on Olive oil and Frankincense.
Moshe anointed his brother Aaron and his sons, by placing blood on their right ear lobes, the right thumbs, and right toes. We can look at this as anointing to always "Hear (Shema) the Word of God, to DO the Word (fulfill the commandments) and to WALK in HIS ways, all the days of our lives. May YHVH guide us in this always.

JEREMIAH 7:21-8:3
We read that YHVH did not demand nor require the sacrifices WHEN THE PEOPLE LEFT EGYPT. and that is true, they were only asked to "follow HIM" later on, at Sinai, when the Mishkan (Tabernacle) was built .....THEN....came the sacrificial mitzvoth. but Israel departed from the ways of YHVH, there had to be another way, and 1500 years later, the "better way" came, by way of the Cross, a "better covenant" still, a blood covenant, the blood covenant still stayed the same, only the details were changed, instead of animals, a perfect man ,who was God, was given up in sacrifice, to not only cover our sins, but to get rid of them, erase them, once and forever........
through Yeshua.

HEBREW 8:1-6
Yeshua is our High priest (Ha Cohen Gadol) when he was on earth, he did not serve as high priest, as He was of the tribe of Y'hudah, not Levi. However, He IS our High Priest in Heaven, and our Mediator between the Father and us, as He is the author of a "better covenant" . Still a blood covenant, yet His blood was/is sufficient for all mankind, and forever.
Shabbat Shalom.....................rabbi Ben Avraham
