Hi Friends,
This is just a basic prayer request and this location seemed like the best place to post it.
I just wanted to ask you for your prayers that I could altogether find new work. A strange series of events and a back injury placed me where I am now and I'm dying to get out. My back is dramatically better but I am in serious need of work that is not only meaningful but provides a solid income.
I've been looking for a while but no luck so far....and that really takes a huge toll after time goes by.
Help please!
G-d bless you - garrett

Being disabled and having fought to keep active in the job market myself, I can understand some of what you are facing (although the struggle is also different for each of us as well). So by all means you have my prayers.

Sorry you have to struggle with this, and I hope things turn around for you soon. It sounds like you have been in a difficult situation for a long time. You are in my prayers.

Thank you Dan, Ellzabeth and jimmie (and anyone else I don't know of).
I really appreciate it the continued prayers. A brief background, just so you have some context of where I'm coming from - I was downsized in 2009 from a solid healthcare technology company (along with a lot of my co-workers). I was actually starting to think of doing something different anyways, just to get a break from the "corporate" environment, and the company was one step ahead of me and let me go. I was very burnt out from the place and the severance pay gave me a chance to regroup. I was in a good position to lose my job (if there is such a thing) since my wife and I were in good financial standing, no debts etc.
I decided to get back into human services work like I had done back in college when I took care of disabled people for years. So I started doing in-home care for a while with the elderly and then got the idea to do hospice care. I took the schooling and became certified as a nurse assistant. I already had a four year degree but didn't want to go into full blown nursing. And the pay is dramatically less in this world compared to the corporate world, but we were still living well below our means.
So I did direct hospice care with terminally ill patients for a couple years. It's very physical and I've literally picked up a lot of people. I'm fairly young and in good shape but this must have taken too much of a toll and my last two discs decided to go on strike. I lost feeling in my left leg and foot, which was then replaced by pain! I was denied workmans comp as the symptoms arrived on a Sunday. Very convenient. I ended up paying for my own back treatment, which was non-invasive, and it literally cost me thousands of dollars. And for ten months I was unable to work so we lived off the savings account. The cost of treatment and draining large amounts of savings was hard enough. I had to use a crowbar to get my hospice agency to find work for me that didn't involve direct patient care since my doctor said I couldn't do it anymore. They begrudgingly brought me back but it pays less and the large management team is just terrible to work for.
Long story short (thanks for reading) is that I'm desperate for some more meaningful work that pays a bit more. I absolutely loved the hospice work but now I refer to myself as the paperclip sorter....
A new work environment would be great for mine and my wife's morale and the opportunity to earn more would provide a bigger sense of stability. I will admit that G-d HAS been faithful. I'm at a point where I never get scared of "having no money" but I certainly don't plan to have none if possible. I have a wife and a home to take care of.
Sorry for the delay in getting back to all of you. It's probably because I've been busy job searching!!

Thanks for the update.
Workman's Comp is notorious for denying those who need and honestly earned them their benefits- almost as notoriouse as for their allowing benefits to scammers. Sorry this happened to you.
With your career being in medical related fields and with back problems, you may have to look at going back to school to become eligible for meaningful employment. Just a thought.
Still praying for you though.
