GENESIS 18:1 - 22:24 , II KINGS 4:1-37, LUKE 17:26-37
In this week's parsha study, we will look at various themes in chapters 18 through 22
We see Abram's hospitality toward the "three" strangers. This was common practice then, to offer a meal and rest to travelers, since this was before the motel 66 business. Of course one of the strangers was indeed YHVH and the other two, accompanying angels, But we see the number "3" which reminds of "Elohim" (The Father, The Son and the Spirit) When one visits, the other two are always there. Abram's blessed them with a meal, and YHVH gives Abram a blessing in return. Is it possible for us to "Bless" G-d? Yes, indeed, through our worship, through our Mitzvoth, (good deeds) our obedience, by serving others, we are blessing God! and thus storing up treasures in Heaven.
"Where is Sarah your wife?" (THEY said unto him) who is THEY? all three of them asked the question seems like. (In the movie "Abrahm" only one asked the question) It is ELOHIM the three in ONE who speak to us, and who speak to us through . This might remind us of the question in Gam Eden "Adam, where are you?" Of course God knew where he was, so, the question might be a question of relationship. Sarah too? how was her relationship in the area of faith? could she believe the "humanly impossible?" We know the answer, she laughed, perhaps she didn't think it was possible for the LORD to give her a child at her age. Kinda like us, "Me, get THAT position? sure, might as well apply for astronaut training too while I am at it"
(sounds like rebbe Jim sometimes,) But God DID make good on his promise, and a son was given to Abram and to Sarai, who became "AbraHam and SaraH" (the "H" could mean "Behold" I breathe the "Breath" of life into this couple, even being old!)
Abraham intercedes for Sodom and Gomorrah! He intercedes, and in a way, it was answered, Lot and his family were saved! But we wonder why Noah did not intercede for the world when it was marked for destruction, in this way, Abraham was more righteous than Noach. Moshe interceded for his people, and Yeshua intercedes for us, even today.
Abraham and Abimelech: Abimelech means "My father is King" which speaks of OUR position with God, He IS our father and He is KING. Abraham shows his lack of faith, so, in a way, Abraham is like us, He has fault
I don't think anyone's faith is 100% pure gold, perhaps Abraham's was 99%, he lies about Sarah, "she is my sister (half truth) he pulled this trick on Pharaoh too, and he was kicked out of Egypt, "bad witness to the ONE and true God" A bad witness now too, in front of Abimelech, If God already promised Abraham a son through Sarah, do you think he is going to let Abraham to be killed? How is our faith measured? in trusting in the the povisions of our Abba who is KING?
Abraham and Isaac: Here is the test, and what a test! "Take your only son Isaac, whom you love, and offer him up as a sacrifice!" now, God did not say "Sacrifice him" he said "Offer him" This is my first story in my eBook "God Tales" (Journey to Moriah) Abraham obeys, even though he fully does not understand the implications. he decides he will "trust God" no matter what, and shouldn't we? We have FM sight (Frequency Modulation) sight, only straight line sight, but our heavenly father has AM sight (and can see around the corners) where we can't . So, who does Isaac represent? many would say he represents Yeshua who was laid on the wooden cross and sacrificed for our sins, but we see that Isaac was "taken off" the pile of wood, and in HIS place, a ram was sacrificed, SO, wouldn't Isaac represent US? and the ram YESHUA? makes sense because our SUBSTITUTE was Yeshua, just like Isaac's substitute was the ram!!

II Kings 4:1-37
We see that Elisha is what one could say a "private prophet" and his ministry to more toward individuals than to the masses. The Ruach HaKodesh works through him to "heal" and "raise the dead" just as the Ruach HaKodesh worked through Yeshua to also heal the sick and raise the
Luke 17: 26-37
With God all things are possible" Have we left ALL to follow him? truthfully, very few have. We all have our "things" we hang on to. The blind man received his sight. We too, have received new sight, to understand the things of God, where before, we had no or little interest in. Oh my, that reminds me, when I was growing up, I dreaded Sundays, "church? again?!! Oi vey!! I have to put on the suit and tie, again!!!?? Now, it is so much a blessing to be in God's house on the Sabbath, and on Sundays too. Wish I could be there all day.
