SIMCHAT (Rejoicing in the ) and B'REISHEET (in the beginning)
GENESIS 1:1- 6:8 JOSHUA 1:1-16 MATTHEW 1:1-17
What is "Simchat " all about? Rejoicing in the !! There are pictures of rabbis dancing around holding the scrolls, what a joy to have God's Word in our midst. Why should we be happy to have God's Word in our midst?
1. Because it is our guide to living a life pleasing to Adonai, without it, how do we determine what is right and wrong?
After creation we read that the Bible says, "and people did what was right in their own eyes!" Well, what might be right for one might not be right for another, without definite standards, godly standards, then the world is going round and around down the drain pipe.
2. The directs us to a personal relationship with Yeshua!
3. is history! teaches us what happened, why? and what we can do to avoid the negative things and how to look forward to the positive things.
4. Availability! We have bibles on top of bibles, each house, how many bibles are there? There are churches that have their lost and found rooms stocked to the ceiling with lost bibles, unclaimed! while in other countries, especially Muslim and countries which used to be communist, have hardly any, and many times, having a bible means jail/prison time. In Russia, under communism, anyone caught teaching Sunday school to teens would get a 10 year prison sentence in Siberia for "corrupting youth" Some churches only had one bible, and it was hand copied,
So, let's rejoice that we have God's Word in our midst, and we don't have to hide it. It also means that we rewind the scroll back to Genesis, to begin again.
It is customary to read the last part of Deuteronomy (34:12) and in the same breath, read Genesis 1:1 ;
; ....and by all that mighty power and all the great terror which Moshe performed in the sight of all Israel, in the beginning, God created the Heavens and the earth
What can we see with this? that the end of the traditional (The Pentateuch)
ends with a curse! a curse upon the land of Egypt, destruction, death of the first born, destruction of the Egyptian army in the sea, resulting in widows, despairing
families, fatherless children, the downfall, per say, of a nation....HOWEVER...in
Genesis 1:1, we see the same power of Adonai, but in a positive way, the creation of the world, a Blessing for mankind, the creation of life, the end of Deuteronomy
communicates terror (death) but Genesis speaks of "life" (awesomeness) so it goes from death to life, it is a continuous story, the whole is really ONE book, "Sefer Echad"
GEN 1:1 "In the Beginning God created the Heavens and the earth" in Hebrew
"B'reisheet Bara Elohim Et HaShamayim v'et HaEretz
1 2 3 4 5 6 7
The perfect "7" seven words, "B" (in) the letter "beit" symbolizes "house" a house for man, planet earth, it is also a blessing for man, (or it was)
"Bara" create from nothingness, out of nothing we get something, Only if Adonai is involved, He "spoke" the world into existence, so, some say, that the Alef Bet was created before anything else was, "Elohim" the involvement of all three entities of the G-dhead, the Father, the Son, the Spirit. So, all three entities of God (Elohim) created all things out of nothing, using his WORDs as power, when? in the beginning! but the beginning of what? if God is infinite, and "beginning" speaks of something "finite" then? what? one could say, "The beginning of time itself. Elohim who is infinite, steps out of eternity to make something finite, for the purpose of revealing himself to mankind and to show his power and glory.
ET what is ET? (not the alien who came down in a spaceship and wanted to call home) It could remind us of the "Alef" and the "Tav" the Beginning and the end,
This is one of the titles of Yeshua the "Alfa and Omega" (in Greek) and in Hebrew the "Alef and the Tav" "HaShamayim" the heavens, we see the word "mayim" which means "waters" there was water above the heavens and below, there is the first heaven, our atmosphere, the second, where the planets and stars are, and the third, the "New Jerusalem" the magnificent City of God! where all of our dear departed saved loved ones are right now, and are waiting for us! "Eretz" (earth)
which is where we stand now, and which mankind has ruined, abused, insulted,
wasted, all in the name of pride, money, and power. So, we have "Space" "Time" and "Matter" "Space" (HaShamayim) "Time" (B'reisheet) "Matter" (Eretz)
which was all created "Good" to be a blessing to mankind"
Oh Adam, why did you do what you did??? We could have had it soooo much better. Oh well, Shabbat Shalom
