It also means to condemn; and we are condemned to haggle over the details of these posts for as long as we both are here!
Dan C Yes...it's part of the fun in not exactly agreeing!

Allow me to ask a question.
I would like to react on a thread. In the post that I am preparing I would like to use quotes from the Bible.
I read my bible in my own native tongue so I found an online English version. It is the KJV 1611. Am I allowed to quote that in this forum?
Also, if I refer to the book of Genesis or Job, should I use the Hebrew names?
And last but not least, do I need a special software to post on this forum because I find it impossible to react on quotes. So far I only manage through the quick reply (you should know that I score highly negative on computer skills so explain this to me as if I were a not too smart 3 year old....)

Allow me to ask a question. I would like to react on a thread. In the post that I am preparing I would like to use quotes from the Bible. I read my bible in my own native tongue so I found an online English version. It is the KJV 1611. Am I allowed to quote that in this forum? Yes, that is totally acceptable. However others may quote the same verse in another translation for clarity when they reply. Comparison is always a good thing, as even David Stern who wrote the Complete Jewish Bible which I often quote from has errors in his work.
If you can get it up on your computer, here is a site that has many translations (in English) and so makes it easy to compare: www.biblestudytools.com/That is entirely up to you. Hebrew or the Anglicized names are both acceptable.Welcome to my world- except try moderating a forum at that level of technical savvy! (They put me on staff because we had a bunch of trolls and cults target the forum, and I was the main one that got up in their faces about their heresies. That and now I have to behave, else I really get "spanked."
Either the software you are using isn't compatible or it may be outdated. There could be other reasons that are beyond my level of expertise. However, all is not lost. For quick replies, just use the Quick Reply box as always. If you wish to quote someone, then highlight and copy the part you want to quote. Then paste it onto the Quick Reply box. You'll have to manually type at either end of the quote to get it into a box, but I tried it and it works. [edit: see the "edit" at the bottom of the page for clarification ...]
I don't know how much text the Quick Reply box will allow, so you may have to break long posts into parts. I recommend typing it out on Word (or whatever you are using for documents), then copying sections and cut and paste them onto the Quick Reply box one at a time. This way it is less likely someone will post a reply in the middle of your reply, so you won't be rushed.
Can you tell me (us) what your operating software is? I might not be much help, but I do talk to computer people from time to time (my son is one, but unfortunately he left home). Maybe someone else here will have some ideas to help.
And please don't hesitate to ask if any of that was unclear or you are still having problems. Send me a Private Message if you don't want to ask on the main forum. Either way is OK.
I hope that helps.
Dan C
edit: OK, well, that blank streak in the post is my technical expertise showing. So how to correct the problem ...
Ignore all the parenthesis ( "(" & ")" ) here because if I don't use them you'll just see another blank "Quote" box.
To quote from another post, copy and paste the quote. Then in front of the quote type [(quote)] (with no parenthesis and no spaces); and at the end of the quote type [/(quote)] (again, no parenthesis and no spaces- and make sure it is a /, not a \- I learned that one the hard way ).

Thank you so much for your reply and help.
P.S. I have no idea what is my operating software. I am one of those persons who goes sit behind a screen, put up my hands in despair and cry for help. But for the lines I want to post, I am OK.
Thanks again and have a blessed week.
