It is a negative commandment to have no benefit from any decoration of an idol or from its' ornaments.
D'varim 7:25 (OJB) The peselim of eloheihem shall ye burn with eish; thou shalt not desire the kesef or zahav that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein; for it is a to’evah (abomination) to Hashem Eloheicha.
Deuteronomy 7:25 (CJB) You are to burn up completely the carved statues of their gods. Don't be greedy for the silver or gold on them; don't take it with you, or you will be trapped by it; for it is abhorrent to ADONAI your God.

Pretty straightforward. Anyone think of any traps with observing this commandment?
The scripture says do it, so I see nothing to discuss there ... unless someone wants to contend with the Almighty over it!
