Just finished the second one. Outstanding study! Thanks! Looks like I'll have to do something on my own this year; low keyed. We are having friends and family come over, and some will be staying with us. My wife was terribly distressed that I might do Chanukah and embarrass her. But she respects my position not to celebrate Christmas, but not to have a tree even though she still does. So I'll acquiesce and not make a large Chanukiah and light it in front of everyone. I'll probably do something small, but ... However, I hope all of you have a blessed and happy Chanukah this year! Dan C

God is good! I was going to just do something on my own, so I bought some candles anyhow. But the "kids" (who now have kids of their own!) asked about lighting the Chanukkiah. So me and the grandkids made a quick one up and we lit them, with the prayers and the Chanukah story also. It was a good, and we'll of course do it again tomorrow evening. Our next chance won't be for another 79000 yrs, after all! Dan C

I am going to go through the readings and prayers with the kids. I mentioned the possibility to my husband and he didn't say no, so I guess that's a yes. :)We'll see how it goes, no candles, but it's more than we did last year.
Happy Chanukah 2014!

It is truly a blessing to do it with the kids. It is also a chance to teach them a part of their Christian tradition in the Chanukah story. It should be taught in churches, but is not because it is Jewish. But if Christianity wants to claim a Jewish heritage, they should be open to this. I pray your husband will be good with it, and maybe even participate. Happy Chanukah!
Dan CAch! Time to light the 1st candle!
Chag Sameach!!!
