It states in (וַיִּקְרָא) Vayikra Leviticus 19:27 Don’t round (פְּאַת Pe'at) your hair at the temples or mar the edges of your beard.
The word Pe'at was taken to mean the hair in front of the ears extending to beneath the cheekbone, on a level with the nose (Talmud - Makkot 20a)
The Mishnah also interpreted the regulation to apply only to men.
Payot (also pe'ot, peyot, payos, peyos; Hebrew: singular ,פֵּאָה ;plural ,פֵּאוֹת) is the Hebrew word for sidelocks or sidecurls.
I have Payot and have been told that us followers of Yeshua is no longer needs to follow what The Sagess has taught us on this issue.
Would Yeshua had Payot according what the Sages taught?
Are there any other people, that also have been confronted with this issue and if so, how did you deal with the questions?

Are there any other people, that also have been confronted with this issue and if so, how did you deal with the questions? Well, first off I'd ask why these people want to tell you that you don't have to follow the sages. Sage means intelligent, knowledgeable- person detracting from the sage, ... maybe not so much. Read the sages as commentary; listen to the detractors not so much. My Study TNK says about vv 27 & 28 that this was a pagan custom of extreme mourning and/or conjuring dead spirits and gods of the netherworld. They were done with divination and magic. So if neither you nor your barber are chanting and no evil spirits are evident, I'd say you probably won't be cut off for getting a haircut and beard trim. However, since you've apparently read more than I have on this I'd also say go with what you know and as the Ruach leads you. Dan C

We have been to a few Messianic congregation, and we never see payot on any members. So. my question is, how are we as followers of Yeshua to observe this mitzvah, as we do by not shaving our beards?

(וַיִּקְרָא) Vayikra Leviticus 19:27 Don’t round (פְּאַת Pe'at) your hair at the temples or mar the edges of your beard. Again, in light of the darash I gave from my JPS Study TNK, I don't necessarily see it as a problem. Even in the P'sht you'd have to do a word study, parsing the verse out completely to have a chance at making a case for its' meaning not to shave or trim one's beard. Have you done such a study? A case could also be made for putting a fence in place if you aren't sure and just leaving your beard to grow naturally. And that is fine. But I don't think I'd condemn others for not doing so. Just state your case to them and allow the Ruach to do whatever work in them is fitting. Personally, I have my beard trimmed, but I do instruct the barber to cut it angularly at the corners. At this time that is as much of a fence as I think is necessary. However, if I you can show that more is required I certainly remain open to either conviction or persuasion. Dan C
