The Word of God is very important but yes, I am a music lover and I find music a very valuable source of inspiration.

Definitely the Word. I like some Messianic music well enough, I suppose; and some of the old hymns. But by and large, I dislike the new praise music. Frankly I can do without all of it and not miss it. However God's infinite word is fascinating. I like to read, study what others have said about it and contemplate on it.

We read in (תְהִלִּים) Tehillim, Psalms 19:8-12 (7-11) The of ADONAI is perfect, restoring the inner person. The instruction of ADONAI is sure, making wise the thoughtless. The precepts of ADONAI are right, rejoicing the heart. The mitzvah of ADONAI is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of ADONAI is clean, enduring forever. The rulings of ADONAI are true, they are righteous altogether, more desirable than gold, than much fine gold, also sweeter than honey or drippings from the honeycomb. Through them your servant is warned; in obeying them there is great reward. (Complete Jewish Bible By David H Stern) Also we read in Timotiyos Bet, 2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is G-d-breathed and is valuable for teaching the truth, convicting of sin, correcting faults and training in right living; thus anyone who belongs to G-d may be fully equipped for every good work.(Complete Jewish Bible By David H Stern)

Something to share with you all about what music does to me. I was born deaf and went to an oral school for 4 years learning how to talk/hear with an hearing aid. Elohim knew I needed to hear music , because when I was less than 2 years old that is when I started to fall in love with music. Since I crossover to messianic, messianic music has been an uplifting music to my very soul. There is no music like Messianic music I have ever heard in my entire life! While I love music I sing to him and praise him with all my heart and soul. I do read his word when it applies to me to help me get through hard times. Its been like medicine to me. Today ... I thank Elohim for giving me some hearing. I don't think I would have gotten through my tough times without his music to my ears. What a wonderful blessing it is to me to be able to hear music. Most people who can hear don't realize what a blessing it is to be able to hear. Some take it for granted and or don't thank him enough for it. I am not saying all but some. So don't shoot the messenger ( sort of speak) ha ha..... I could listen to his music all day, dance with my soul, sit here on my computer tell you how wonderful his words and music are to me!!!!

But we also read
Psalms 150 1 Hallelujah! Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty expanse. 2 Praise Him for His mighty deeds; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness. 3 Praise Him with trumpet sound; Praise Him with harp and lyre. 4 Praise Him with timbrel and dancing; Praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe. 5 Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with resounding cymbals. 6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Hallelujah!
and
Ephesians 5:19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord
and
Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
I love a good study but I also love to sing and dance.
In fact many times my prayer life turns into singing praises to God.

dontcha love music and sing praises to him. I do, everyday, or when I can.
Elohim deserves to be praise everyday like the Jewish people do 14-16 hours a day.
We should do the same , yes?
Singing praises to him puts a smile on his face! ;D

Shalom All, I think the poll question can be somewhat misinterpreted. There is only one spirit that I want to be led by. Not to say that music is a spirit or can be superior to the Holy Spirit. I have listened to music my whole life and for the most part prefer to have music with or without words on nearly all the time. His Word is also a song when we sing His Word. Micha'el

I still listen to secular music.
When referencing worship/avodah and the like, honestly I can't stand the majority of Messianic music (much of it I would consider Christian).
I do enjoy some neoChassidic music like Mattisyahu, DeScribe, Y-Love, Jewda Maccabbi and a few other Israeli artists like Avishai Cohen, Moshav Band, Carlbach, and The Idan Rachel Project.
I really dig the Valaam Monestary (especially their Russian version of the Beattitudes), Gregorian Chant, Arabic Christian hymns and chants, etc. Orthodox Chridtians have some awesome melodies and chants (same goes for different dtyles and sects of Judaism).

Micha'el Sorry Michael. and you are right there is only one spirit. I guess my poll was not direct and on point. however, a spirit that moves you should only be one by his holiness and none other. Shalom shalom!
