Ahhh.....I ended up getting sick for the whole weekend/time of Shavuot, followed by being extremely tired. So I/we didn't get to do much of anything. I did manage to get some studying done though. I hate when a holy day "goes down the drain" (for me).
Wanted to go to synagogue, eat cheesecake, light candles, etc. Next year.

Shavuot this year (2016) falls on Sunday the 11th, with erev Shavuot on Saturday the tenth in the evening. A few of us are getting together over at a friends house on Sunday afternoon. However I do have a bit of news: My wife has informed me she doesn't want me to go with her to church next Sunday because she doesn't want me to harass the Pentecostals, asking if they know what day it is and such ...
Oh well, there's always cheesecake to look forward to!

Dan C Ouch. I'm sorry to hear that, Dan. With all of us in our own "situations" it is difficult. But we keep plugging along since it's the best thing to do. But enjoy your cheesecake. I recommend that it be taken with a good cup of coffee....

Tonight, & June 2019 marks the beginning of Shavuot. So get stocked up on dairy (cheesecake and ice cream for me!) and have a great Shavuot! It is one of the shalosh regalim, so whatever you do Shabbat this year should be special. It was a time when gifts of first-fruits were brought to the Temple when it was standing. Now it is primarily a time when we focus on God's gift to us of . Dan C

So Shabbat ends and the Shabbat of Shavuot begins and runs throught the day Sunday. Maybe I can sneak into th Pentecostal church again and ask if they know what day it is ... I always get a perverse pleasure out of that! Dan C
