Hello,
I have some very good friends who celebrate the biblical holidays and sabbath and also only eat clean foods and follow the teachings of Hubert Armstrong...anyone familiar with him and his writings? I have been doing some research but having a hard time deciphering between inline with the word of God or not.
Also, the Adventists bring up many teachings by Ellen White and I am wondering if anyone has studied up on her as well...I am curious if she was inspired by God or not.
Thanks to anyone knowledgeable on these two:)

Hi Mindy,
Welcome to the forum. I'm relatively new here myself.
I think you may mean Herbert W. Armstrong. I know that he spoke out against celebrating pagan customs in the Church, such as Easter and Christmas trees, but most of his theology was not considered to be biblical. That's about all I know about him.
I know even less about Ellen White.
Sorry I can't be more help. I hope someone else can.
Anyway, glad you're here.
In Yeshua

Hi Mindy, First, I want to caution you that when you are looking for information about a Subaru, the Toyota dealer is not going to deliver you an objective perspective; but neither is the Subaru dealer. What I am saying is that while I, or others have a somewhat negative view of these teachers of doctrine, it would be unfair to them if you would build your opinion solely upon what might be said here. I've only attended a few meetings by followers of Mr. Armstrong. I did get a strong sense that while they believed the biblical feasts are important, but any Jewish interpretation of those feasts is invalid. This view is somewhat hypocritical sense the only contexts we have for celebrating the Feasts are established by Jewish traditions. This also completely ignores Paul's position regarding traditional Judaism taught by the apostle Paul (2nd Thess. 2:15, Romans 3, and Acts 28:18). Mr. Armstrong was the founder of the World Wide Church of God. There are a lot of similarities between his teachings and strains of Messianic Judaism. He promoted the "Ephriamite Doctrine" which is very similar to "Two-House Theology" promoted by Monte Judah. The Two-House teaching is that those who are drawn to are not really gentiles but have been drawn back to their Jewish heritage: that they have some trace of geneological lineage back to the "lost tribe of Ephraim." Yet, the flavor and structure of the followers resembles the Christian church, quite antagonistic toward anything that is characteristically Jewish. Many of the teachings of Michael Rood are also very similar to Mr. Armstrong's, but with a Jewish flavoring (some might even say simply updated and repackaged under a new name). We have a thread already discussing the Seventh Day Adentists here, to which Ellen White belonged and was an instrumental teacher. theloveofgod.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=864Again, I would caution against you taking our word for what they believe; but if these issues strike a concern with you, ask them to explain for themselves before making any judgment. I would hope that anyone would show me the same courtesy if going to the local AofG pastor to find out more about Messianic Judaism
