If Adonai knows all, why must He test the children of Israel, to know what was in their hearts? Could it not be thatHe tested them so that THEY would know? Is our sin not revealed to us by His Spirit in the same way?

I think that it is in man's nature to stray from Adonai. Those tests that He gives us can be a little reminder of Who we belong to. As for myself, when I came back from my first tour in Iraq, I kind of stopped relying on Him for my basic everyday needs. He kept me safe everyday over there, and as each day went on, it was obvious that His presence was with me. But when I came home, and my life was non longer in danger, I drifted. And suddenly everything went dark. My first year back was pretty rough. But had it not been for all the tests that He gave me after I came back home, who knows how far I could have drifted...

I think he tests people so that we have or have not an excuse. If he tests us and we fail he we have no plee against him ( that we didn´t do anything for example). If we remain strong we´ll get reward.
I think that´s one point in testing. Peace and blessings be upon us all.
