Midrash Tanchuma launches from the phrase "he (Joshua) shall go over before his people" in Deuteronomy 3:28 to describe Moses asking Adonai that before he die, that he may situnder Joshua as his teacher. God, in the story, granted his request and Moses, disguised himself, then went to sit with the crowd at Joshua's tent as Joshua was explaining the . Well, of course, it's a little hard to hide when your the ruler of the whole country. When he was discovered, there was an uproar. Joshua and all the others begged him to take his rightful place as the teacher and allow Joshua and the others to learn from him. "His response was. "I have no license," and then adjured Joshua to continue. I wonder if it may be possible that we may parralel this story with Messiah Yeshua at the mount of transfiguration in Matthew 17. Could this have been a passing of the torch from Moses and Elijah (the great sages of for Israel) to Messiah Yeshua?

I´ve heard an interpretation like this as well. Someone said that Moshe represented the , Eliyahu the repentance (as far as i remeber) and now these are united in the truth and grace which is presented in Yeshua our beloved messiah. I think this might be true.
