Hello I am John. I was born and raised a Christian in the Church of God. I have been growing in my faith in the past year and I love God,Jesus(yeshua) and my religion. I feel as a Christian I have a great relationship with Christ(yeshua) but not with God, and I see a lot of people who practice Judaism having a great relation sip with God. I have been studying Messianic Judaism for close to a year now and I am considering it as my religious path. I would like to know how I could become a Messianic Jew and where a Messianic Synagogue close to my house (Atlanta, Ga 30084)so I can visit and talk to the Rabbi about practicing Messianic Judaism.

Jphn: I am new here, but as a Messianic Rabbi's wife, I know there are several Messianic congregations in the Atlanta area. If you are of a similar mindset as Southern Baptist, or other rather fundamental denominations, you can try the Southern Baptist Messianic Fellowship for information on SBMJ congregations that may be in the area. There are several MJAA congregations, as well as a couple of independent ones. A good resource is the Messianic Times newspaper and website. You can also try a Google search for Messianic congregations in Atlanta. (Typically most congregations don't call themselves synagogues, so that may skew your search a bit. Try both synagogues and congregations, to see what comes up.) May Adonai Avinu (The L-rd our Father) bless you and your search for His (true instruction). Rabbi's Wife

... I feel as a Christian I have a great relationship with Christ(yeshua) but not with God, and I see a lot of people who practice Judaism having a great relation sip with God. I agree, Jewish practitioners seem to have a great reverence and respect for God. However, if you have a relationship with the Son, then you have one with the Father. We can learn a lot from our Jewish brethren, however don't ever think you are less than they are spiritually. Take the best of both and grow- which is to me what Messianic Judaism is all about. Sahalom John! Sounds to me like you already are becoming Messianic. Other than that we are adopted as heirs to the promise, we'll never be "Jews" in the modern sense. We are believers of the whole Word, keepers of all the commandments except those relating to the Aaronic priesthood. Yeshua fulfilled the need for a priest as intermediary and the Temple sacrifices. Keep looking for believers in your area. They'll turn up when you least expect. I just found out there's a group closer than I'd dreamed. Check the statement of faith before fellowshipping or learning from them, as there are some groups flying the Messianic banner that should be flying the Jolly Roger. That goes for books and the internet as well! This seems like a good place to get good advice if you're not sure. I wish you luck, and hope to see you here often. Dan C

On a closer look, I see that the others were from 2009 and you are the new poster here. Shalom, and welcome! Glad you have a home congregation, but hope you will bless us here with the knowledge you gain there. Dan C
