IN Deuteronomy 28:9 is cited in many listings of the 613 mitzvot as a command to walk in the ways of Adonai. It's likelly that Paul was referring to this command in Colossians 3:17, when he said, "In everything you do, whether word or deed, do all in the name of Messiah Yeshua, giving thanks to Elohim the Father by Him."
How do we do that? How does one dedicate every function of his or her life as a service to Adonai? Or, more practically, when one has turned and suddenly found his or herself off the path of righteousness, dull in the relationship with the Father, what is the course for stepping back into a relationship of intimacy with Him?

“YHVH will establish you for a holy people to himself, as he has sworn to you; if you shall keep the mitzvot of YHVH your elohim, and walk in his ways.” - Devarim (Deut.) 28:9 The way I read the above is that it is covenant language expressing the results of each party keeping their part of the covenant. I don’t necessarily see the above as a positive commandment. But, for those whom have come into covenant with Adonai, to “walk in His ways” it is an implied commandment and the above passage acts as a reminder to “be holy as He is holy”. Also one cannot be a holy people unto Adonai unless they walk in His ways. Any other thoughts on why Devarim 28:9 is considered one of the positive mitzvot among the 613? is instruction for life and if we are living out The Father's than it will effect every area of life...it will envelope our life and we will become more and more intimate with Adonai. Mark,
Follow the money. Smart in more than one way. I have found that when far away from the Lord and just blowing in the wind. If one pays tithes and/or gives offerings one can return to the Lord. Please believe me that I consider "prosperity gospel" to be the apostacy. It is mammon being worshipped in the Church, just as Yeshua warned us about.
What I am talking about has nothing to do with that. I am talking about what is taught more throughly through out the bible. Helping others.
Helping others is the definition of "Pure Religion". I myself am partial to Christian Childrens Fund. I also help at a little church near my house that is really helpful to the neighborhood kids and sends stuff to Liberia.
It is very spiritually uplifting when you are down in the dumps to actually do things for others without regard to your own situtation.
Mal 3:7 Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?
Mal 3:8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
Mal 3:9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. Mal 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. Mal 3:11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts. Mal 3:12 And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.

I too believe that Tithes and Offerings should be brought before El-Shaddai but its important to point out that the Levitical priesthood is not organized anymore and this is who would've normally accepted the responsibility of appropiating funds for holy purposes.
Without the Levites the responsibility resides with ourselves.
Instead of just handing over our holy tenth to some Church isn't responsible. Although we must support local ministries, a large amount of our tithe should also go to the poor in Yisra'El, the rebuilding of the Temple, and the spreading of the message of Moschiach to the Jewish diaspora and those who have returned.
