This was a man that walked with G-D as it says in Genesis 5:22, and G-D took him while he was still walking the earth. In Hebrews 11:5 it says- By faith Enoch was taken up so that he would not see death; And He was not found because G-D took him up; for he obtained the witness that before his being taken up he was pleasing to G-D. My question is, this was a man that found great favor with G-D, so will someone please tell me why the book of Enoch is not in our bibles? I have not read the book of Enoch, but I wanted to get an answer to this question before I read it. Thanks.

This is a hotly debated subject is some circles. I am sure some will disagree with me on the boards here. But, that is o.k. Here is what I believe: The book of Enoch does contain -some- historical truths (like the book of Maccabbees) and there are references to it in the scriptures. But, it is a part of the apochrypha. In other words, the book as a whole does not agree with the canon of scripture. This is why it was not chosen. During Yeshua's time His Bible was the TeNaKh ( , Prophets, and Writings). And, during His time the book of Enoch was not included in the TeNaKh. In other words, it has always been excluded. The references to it in scripture can be attributed to factual events just like we can find in the Talmud, or in the book of Maccabbees. But, this does not mean that the book of Enoch, the Talmud, nor the book of Maccabbees are the enspired word of G'd. I hope this helps. Shalom achi, Reuel

Thanks Reuel, I was just wondering what someone else had to say about this subject. I believe that the bible was put together by G-d, and that everything that's in it was meant to be there, and everything that's not in it was not meant to be there. I just think the Enoch question is another mystery that G-d will explain to us some day. I have to admit I have read a small amount of the book of Enoch, and it didn't speak to me the way G-d's spirit filled word does and that's where my Enoch question came from. Thanks for your answer.

In my opinion, the book of Enoch was absolutely not written by Enoch. Prophecies and sayings of Enoch may have been verbally passed on and later written down but I doubt that this includes a significant portion of the book. Nevertheless the book appears to have been written by a follower of God with some level of inspiration. It is useful reading. I would say the same of most of the psuedipigraphia and the apocrypha. All writings must be compared and tested against the .
