Shalom, Reuel, Notzari, I have a question in regards to the Midrash. I hope one or both of you might be able to enlighten me. It appears to me that the Midrash not only disregards the language of the Scriptures, but also the context. Am I missing it completely? ;D Or am I the victim of my own modern, western, mainstream indoctrination? (of which I am trying to extricate myself). I would appreciate any thoughts or explanation. Shalom aleychem Chaverim Rick

I have yet to study the Midrashim, but as soon as I do, I can give you an answer. Keep in mind, that the midrashim are merely discussions on halachic portions of the . These include both majority and minority opinion. Shalom chaver, Notzari

Like most things you have to take it on a case by case basis. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Much of it is very good insight and advice.
Shalom,

Don't forget what midrash is. It is stories and legends, not at all scripture and sometimes they disagree with scripture because there was a point in Jewish history where we the average man did not understand or study . So a story surrounding was what he heard past down through generations, but not the itself.
