Is anyone familiar with the teacher Michael Rood? He has a program on skyangel twice a week. He is one of only legitamate (that is professing) Messianic teachers I've seen on television.

I am very familiar with him. I have seen numerous videos of his, have read material by him, and have seen him speak in person. Although, I do believe that G'd is using him to an extant to wake people up to the reality that is the viable lifestyle for the redeemed....But, just like any teacher (including me) you have to watch for false doctrine...in his case; barley harvest moedim doctrine, rejection of Brit Chadashah (New Covenant)Greek manuscripts, promotion of Shem Tob as a viable New Covenant manuscript and a few others seem to come to mind. I would extend a word of caution when reading or listening to Michael Rood...As when listening to any man, do not simply swallow everything he has to say ...test everything He says by the scriptures....and if someone says the scriptures you are using as a measuring tool are not valid....big red flags should go up. Instead of directing people to Michal Rood...I would direct people to ministries like First Fruits Of Zion found at www.ffoz.org . Shalom chaverim, Reuel

We took the Ha Yesod class by FFOZ in K.C. first and then in our very first home fellowship in Topeka one couple had videos by Michael Rood and another couple had cassette teachings by Avi ben Mordecai, They were the first Hebraic teachers and teachings we had. They whetted our appetites and pointed us in the right direction. After that we got involved with studying every Shabbat. We have all learned to trust G-d to give us the teachers and teachings that we need at the time He gives them to us. It seems like each person in our group has their own set of teachers that G-d has given them. In fellowship we share what we've learned and then discuss things. As always we each need to discern every teacher and every teaching. I liked and agreed with some of Michael Rood's teachings and others I did not. In our fellowship we've not found all the different teachers and teachings to be a problem. As long as we keep our focus on and continue to study It - that is what keeps us stable and steady in all the different teachings that any teacher comes up with. So, we have to measure everything we hear by that standard.

I have heard him in person once and have several of his video teachings. He recently put out an audio teaching called "Sleepless In Seattle" GREAT teaching. He pulls NO punches. I agree with Reuel though as we have to check EVERYTHING to see if it's true or not.
But I'd recommend him.

When I was just starting to look at MJ as a serious alternative to mainstream Christianity, and so was searching for like minded individuals, I came across the "Sacred Names" movement. Every time I wanted to look at scripture, they shoved in another of those ridiculous (and I'm being kind) "Rood Awakenings" videos.
The guy is a clown. But I've come to mistrust people who use his kind of "excitement" to entertain rather than engage in thoughtful teaching. They don't want you to think. They use their "excitement" and enthusiasm to rush by some very unsound doctrine, sandwiched in the truth so you are lulled into acceptance. He's a carnival huckster.
I'm as wary of people like Rood as I am of the "Namers" who told me I wasn't saved because I used the wrong spelling and pronunciation of God's name; which, by the way, only they and the most ancient of priests know. Rood too has his ancient wisdom, made legitimate of course because he dresses like a priest talks fast. The arguments and teachings can sound compelling, until you slow it down and go check where they don't want you to- to scripture.
I never kept notes on Rood, so can't tell you about his teachings. I am arguing against his style of teaching. I've come across it before in brushes with cults, and with charlatans in the secular world. I treat Rood like I did them. I walk away and don't look back.

BTW: I only stayed with the Sacred Namers for the few days I did because I was trying to pull (and eventually succeeded) a brother out of that movement.

Shalom All, Each time I hear someone appearing to be a teacher of the scriptures I get a check in my spirit. The check with MR, told me to not waste any of my time listening to him. So I don't. My advice to anyone who has questions is to check the scriptures and prove or disprove what is said. If it appears too hard to discern what you are hearing it will be even harder to remember and build up your faith in. Micha'el

I agree with most of what Micha'el and Adon said... I also listen to 'Rood Awakening" ... Let's just say... Wasn't my cup of tea. I know he means well. But the way he goes about it, just ... does something to my nerves Anywho, each to its own learning and likes and dislikes. But all in all... they are all there to teach Hashem's truth in a certain way, I guess.

No thanks. He's abrasive and actually not all that accurate. Lots of zeal; little wisdom. I'm sure he means well, but I wouldn't waste my study time on his stuff.
