Here is a simple little quiz to get everybody into the reading. Based on this reading, what is another name for the "Tribe of Joseph"? Anybody?
In chapter 13 of Numbers we see that G'd commanded the leaders of the Israel to go in and search the land to view the bounty that He was giving them. I believe this was a test, that we can apply to our lives. Here was the test...G'd promised them a land flowing with milk, and honey if they obeyed Him. He had already manifested Himself in their lives to show that He has the power to do anything, and with Him they could do anything. Making this evident beforehand, He then commands them to checkout the land before they take it.
The faithful (Caleb) came back and reported indeed a land flowing with milk, and honey, and that they should, and would be able to take it regardless of the circumstances (giants). The rest of the people claimed that there were circumstances that would inhibit the taking of the land...that there were giants. Ask yourself...whom trusted in Adonai, and whom trusted in themselves? And...Do you have any giants in your life that are keeping you from obedience, and the blessing that our Heavenly Father has for you? Will you be the individual that jumps into the promised land with both feet trusting that G'd is your rearguard? Or, is your confidence in your abilities, and power? Do the worries of this world get in the way of doing what you know to be the good, and perfect will of The Father? Are you doing something other than what the Father has called you to because you tell yourself that you must do the thing (whatever it is) before you can accomplish His will?....
"And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended. And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word, And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful." Mark 4:16-19

"Say to them, As I live, says YHVH, as surely as you have spoken in My ears, so I will do to you. Your dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness, even all your numbered sons, as to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, in that you have murmured against Me. - Numbers 14:28-29
In the above passage there is yet another indication to the age of accountability. Why else would everyone under the age of twenty be exempt from this curse? It seems as though G'd holds the age of accountability, and true adulthood to be the age of twenty years old.
"by the number of the days in which you spied out the land, forty days, a day for a year, a day for a year; you shall bear your iniquities forty years; you shall know My alienation from you." - Numbers 14:34
What I see from the above passage is that our sin, and iniquity...(even though for a moment) has long lasting consequences. How decietful sin is! Furthermore, we can see from the following passage that just because we come and repent of our sin does not mean that we will not have to pay for it's immediate consequences...
"And they rose up early in the morning and went up to the top of the mountain, saying, Behold, we are here, and we will go up to the place which YHVH has said, for we have sinned. And Moses said, Why do you now transgress the mouth of YHVH, since it will not prosper? Do not go up, for YHVH is not in your midst, and you will be defeated by your enemies. - Numbers 14:40-42
And, for us to act presumptiously thinking that we can avoid the immediate consequences of our sin, and to act in such a manner is foolish...
"But they presumed to go up unto the hill top: nevertheless the ark of the covenant of YHVH, and Moses, departed not out of the camp. Then the Amalekites came down, and the Canaanites which dwelt in that hill, and smote them, and discomfited them, even unto Hormah." - Numbers 14:44-45
Any thoughts?

Once again (third time in the ) we can see in the following passage that in the eyes of our G'd there is one for both Jew, and Gentile... "One ordinance shall be both for you of the congregation, and also for the stranger that sojourneth with you, an ordinance for ever in your generations: as ye are, so shall the stranger be before YHVH. One law and one manner shall be for you, and for the stranger that sojourneth with you." Numbers 15:15-16 "Ye shall have one law for him that sinneth through ignorance, both for him that is born among the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them."- Numbers 15:29 In Messiah there is neither Jew, nor Gentile...but one new man. And, that one new man is observant. Any teacher that teaches the opposite to what we see clearly communicated for us here (which is the foundation for all other scripture)...is a liar (Isaiah 8:20, 1John2:4). And, for those whom have been shown the truth, and break G-d's commandments anyway...these will especially be held accountable... "But the soul that doeth ought presumptuously, whether he be born in the land, or a stranger, the same reproacheth YHVH; and that soul shall be cut off from among his people. Because he hath despised the word of YHVH, and hath broken his commandment, that soul shall utterly be cut off; his iniquity shall be upon him." - Numbers 15:30-31 And remember, we just saw in the previous verse in this chapter that this is in regards to both Jew, and Gentile whom had been joined to the G'd of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (whom are to lead there lives by the same ). If you are a believer in Messiah, and have already been saved by His grace, it is time for you to take the next passage seriously... "And YHVH spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes (tzitzit) in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue: And it shall be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of YHVH, and do them; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring: That ye may remember, and do all my commandments, and be holy unto your G'd."Numbers 15:37-40 I am astounded that those whom claim to be Spirit filled believers will readily take on the traditions of men such as wearing crosses, wwjd bracelets, wedding rings, and even tatoos to remember their faith, and/or commitments. Yet, they would -never- consider doing what G'd actually asked them to do to remember their faith, and His commandments. If it is you that I am speaking of...I exhort you out of love for your Father, and your neighbor to tie yourself a set of fringes (tzitzit) according to G-d's instructions above. For this is one of the fruits that we truly love G'd, and His children... "By this we know that we love the children of G'd, when we love G'd, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of G'd, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous." 1John 5:2-3 If you would like some instructions on how to tie tzitzit (Biblical fringes), I would be happy to e-mail you some more information. B'ahava Yeshua HaMashiach, Reuel
