In Numbers 13:32, the land of Canaan is described as "a land that eats up the inhabitants." It wasn't only for fear of the giants who dwelt there; but simply that this wild country was completely out of their league. There's a sense of God's calling upon us that I can easily relate to: "You want me to do what?!" It is as though I were asked to settle my family in the backwoods of Alaska- nevermind the bears and cougers... where's Burger King?
