Christian means that which is of Christ. Most Christians will say that the title identifies them as people who follow or obey the teachings fo Christ. One problem with that. Christ was a observant Jewish Rabbi. Everything that He taught came from the Father... the God of Israel, the God of the Jews, the God who gave us . Many will say that we don't have to follow because we follow the example of Christ. Christ followed in every detail. Here's the real kicker. In Matthew 28:18-20, "The Great Commission" the Messiah (Christ) said, "Go ye out therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit: teaching them to observe (tey-rey-o is to fix one's eyes upon, to not let it out of your sight) all things whatsoever I have commanded you...) Now, in Greek, he could have said "pas entelomahee" meaning all commands from me" and it could have been interpretted in a general sense: the idea of love and self-sacrifice. But, he slipped another word in there. "pos-hosas"is all things whatsoever. The idea to be diligent as to leave nothing out. This command, this commission, from Messiah is to teach to all nations.

Great post Mark. What I also find interesting from most Christians is that they somehow try to divorce Yeshua from the . They say that they believe that Yeshua is G-d, that He was always G-d, and will always be G-d. However, when you then ask them if as G-d, this then makes Him the giver of the they put on the brakes. I asked someone the other day who claimed that the Law was bondage, if he somehow believed that Yeshua placed in bondage only to come back at a later date to free us from bondage. Of course I received no response. It all comes back to some simple facts for me. There are only three times that the term Christian is used in the scriptures, and in not one of them is it the believing community using the term to describe themselves. Then there is the issue of the "commonwealth of Israel". The entity that HaShem desired from the beginning of His promises to the patriarchs. All who come to faith are part of the commonwealth, not some new entity. Shalom, Yitzchak

I am a Christian . I come from Greece and i would like you to clear something out for me please . Is there any difference between the old testement that is written in the bible and the ? As a Greek Christian i am thankfull to Israel for all the wonderfull people that lived by the word of God and helped the word of God to come to people like myself and many others from all the nations of the world . I thank Abraham ( forgive my english ) , Isaac , Jacob whom God himself named Israel , i thank the 12 patriarchs , I thank Samuel , David , Solomon , the prophets , I thank John the baptist who testified that Jesus ( Yeshua ) is the Son of God , the lamb that was sacrifised so that anyone who believes in him will be saved . It is great for me to be a part of this !

Hello and welcome Adam7gur and Vegangirl, The as used in this forum, refers to the 1st five books of the Bible, and is also what was given to Moses at Mt. Sinai for Israel. I think of it as the "Constitution" for the spiritual Nation of Israel to follow.

We can easily argue text to support our definition in a purely theological context; but that's not my question. It's not what should a Christian be, if one were obedient to the Scriptures. It is what is a Christian today? If I ask a Mormon, "Are you a Christian?" He would say, "Certainly." Yet his Baptist neighbor would incredulously respond, "No you're not!"

Whats a army christian? I have seen people write this in there posts so what does it mean? that may be something you see me say? only i use the term "Regular Army Christian". we are all part of God's Army, but there are differences in " -view" as i call it. "Regular Army Christians" believe you are saved through faith, which we Messianics believe, but that you don't have to observe the , because "it has been done away with." being that this " -view" is mainstream amongst believers, they are referred to, by me, as the R.A.C. ~ Regular Army Christians. Much Love in Yeshua, Yochanan

True faith results in works; in other words, if we have true faith, we will put or money where our mouth is. A way that I look at it, is like the relationship between a husband and a wife. If a husband truly loves his wife, he will seek to do what speaks love to her. It is the same with the Lord; He has told us what we are to do that pleases Him and speaks love to Him. True love is not a "feeling" or a declaration, but is truly an act. We can declare with great emotion that we love, but unless we are willing to love in a manner that meets the needs of the other person, it is not true love for the other; it is self-love. Properly viewed, faith, like love does not exist apart from works. So therefore the whole faith v.s. works argument is ridiculous. It is all a matter of how you define faith and love. The Bible shows us how both are defined.

All of us enjoy the freedom from God to claim whatever we want about ourselves. The thing is we have to prove ourselves! Many say that they are Christians , but trust me very few are! In a simple way of describing what a true Christian should be like is , to understand the New testament through the Old.Anyone who says that the Old is not for a Christian is mislead but why do we both Christians and Jews fight over that since we both have THE BEST example we could possible have , Yeshoua Himself. Why not since we both admitt that He is the Messiah, do what He tought us? We as gentiles , nations that knew no God and now adopted by Him through Yeshoua , have to realize that there can be no blessing for us except through Israel , the chosen people. The from the begining to the end points out to Yeshoua.Every detail of the Law is Yeshoua. You , the chosen people of God carry the Law for thousands of years and that could give you the vision that Yeshoua is the Law. If we as Christians say that we believe in Jesus we have to believe in the as well.If you as Jews believe that Yeshoua is the Messiah you have to follow the the way he tought you.The is not wrong , but the way that the people of Israel understood the was wrong that's why Yeshoua cleared it out . In my eyes that is the only way how Jews and gentiles can be one in God's presence and fulfill the propfecies and the hunger of God about the people of Israel and all the nations. It is an honour for me that you allow me to be a part of this and share your opinion with me .

Naturally I agree about the importance of , and I agree totally with the way Prodigal Girl explains things above, but I also observe that there are many people who, despite their questionable theology, behave in such a loving, giving, forgiving way that I imagine they must be far closer to G-d than I am. And I expect they trust in and rely upon G-d with all their hearts, whereas I am not always too good at that. Rav Sha'ul (see Romans 4.16: The Complete Jewish Bible translates this in a nice clear way) seemed to think this is very important. It is recorded (Yochanan 13.34-35) that Adon Yeshua said that His talmidim are recognisable by the love they have for each other. That points an accusing ('You are not one, then!') finger at myself at times, I admit........ But I still think I am. Despite my failings. And despite my theological mistakes, of which there must be many.

What is a christian... I did write something somewhere over here... but its gone now...
All I know is that christians, messianic's and many many other's are at war with each other... Its like they hate each other and are Jealous of each other. I have not met many believers that I seen have the love of Yeshua.
To me a christian is:: LOVE! Yeshua is LOVE! I am talking about real Love.. that u would help some one u don't know, or if new in a church place take the time to say hello, shake a hand.. Do any thing to help someone in need or not. You will be able to tell a real christian person, there eyes will have the Love of Adoni in them...
