Thought this would be interesting: Matisyahu Miller www.hasidicreggae.com I recently purchased his latest CD, and I must say that I am impressed. Not only is he really good, he also gives praise to HaShem.

He is really good isn't he? My husband actually got a cd from a coworker of his who just likes reggae and didn't know who he really was or what he sung about. My husband overheard the words on the music and asked to borrow the cd. Who of thought his coworker was listening to a Jew amongst his rastafarianism? We are going to try to go to the Portland Oregon concert of his on Feb 26th. Here is Matisyahu's official site if you are interested in that also: www.matisyahu.org/Shalom all Messimom

Because he goes back and forth between English, Hebrew and... I can't remember the name of the Jamacan language, it's sometimes difficult to understand. You can also download a lot of his lyrics from www.leoslyics.com

I also have enjoyed a performance by him that I saw on tv. Although, I don't know that he would be catagorized in "rastafarianism" seeing that is pretty much a different religion than Judaism. Any thoughts? Shalom chaverim, Reuel

I'm sorry, if you're referring to my earlier post, I didn't mean to include him in the rastafarian faith; I was just saying how funny I thought it was that "Mr. Reggae" at my husband's work had no idea that he was listening to a Hasidic Jew amongst his other reggae music; which mainly is rastafarian in theme. Just because Matisyahu prefers the style of reggae to make his music doesn't mean he's rastafarian. So I thought it was funny, here is this guy listening to people sing about false gods and what not, and then amidst it all is listening to praise and worship to the One True G-d and doesn't have a clue. Sorry if I was confusing in my earlier post. Messimom

I checked out his website, and thought the music was great. Imagine having a Chasidic Jew singing Reggae about . I just ordered one of his CD's, and I can't wait to see the looks of the people as they hear the Reggae beat coming from my car. Shalom, Yitzchak

Not a problem, I just wanted to clarify for our readers that Mattisyahu does not have connections with rastafarianism. On a different note, it is amazing how quickly his music is spreading. Almost everyone I know in the community is talking about him....maybe he will come to Yeshua Pray for him, Reuel

Well with Passover around the corner I just have to mention www.reggaepassover.com/ you can listen to most of the CD at the website and there is also a Reggae Chanukah CD. I have communicated with Alan Eder and he has said that there is a "Reggae " CD in the works - but it is still a couple of years away from being available.

Ta-Shma is a new Hassidic hip hop group. I haven't heard anything from the rest of their CD, but my family is enjoying the video for their song Shine! (And none of us like normally like hip-hop www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwrsBFaofhE
