One of the more common questions often asked of believers by non-believers (and for that matter one often discussed between ourselves) is: "What is our purpose?" "Why are we here?"
Colossians 1:16 for [in] Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or dominions, or rulers, or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him.
I won't go through the whole process, because it would take too long. But in my studies this week I had a coalition of thoughts if you will concerning this question. So I am going to put it up here for thought and discussion: "God wishes to interact with His creation." Psalm 89:5–7 says, “The heavens praise your wonders, LORD, your faithfulness too, in the assembly of the holy ones. For who in the skies above can compare with the LORD? Who is like the LORD among the heavenly beings? In the council of the holy ones God is greatly feared; he is more awesome than all who surround him.” So He does interact even in the spirit realm, His heavenly abode. Our purpose here is "to be the vehicle through which He interacts with His physical creation." God walked with Adam daily in the Garden. I doubt He needed a report about what was happening, He just wanted to discuss it with Adam. Likewise He didn't need the advice of a heavenly council, but He apparently did discuss with and listened to this council.
