I was looking at an Andrew Wommack episode last night and he was showing scriptures mainly from Ephesians which reflect that God's blessing are already inside of us so we should be praying to release those blessings and not ask God to send us any blessings. What do you guys make of this please? I still think it is counterproductive to watch these TV evangelists. Womack is an adherent of "Word of Faith" theology. He believes faith is a force that, like magic we can control. It reduces your faith to the occult. From his own website:
The verse in question has nothing to do with sicking demons on someone who you want to discipline. It has to do with the authority of our leaders in the body of believers to set halacha- rulings on how we walk out . Womack though misinterprets this to say we can control people. This is what witchcraft does; it allows adherents to control others by exerting control over demonic forces. And wouldn't you know it, one of the main areas where the demons are loosed is against those who do not give enough:
"Sowing" is to Womack a euphemism for giving to his ministry. So as always, I make of this just another example of why you need to not watch these slick, evil men who turn God's Word into just another way to enrich themselves. Womack's teachings are poison. Matthew 7:7-8 (ESV) “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.God desires that we ask. As Matthew 7:7-8 says: ask, seek, and knock. Then it will be given! The Ruach is at work inside us, but is not something we control to effect others. The effect is on us, to change us. And Womack has no idea what a blessing is. To be blessed is to be put in or found in a favorable position. It is a condition, not a force. And it is not a means to exert control over or to bend others to our own will. Womack is giving you a message straight from the pit. Dan C

Telling someone to not pray for G-d's blessings can only come from evil, whatever twisted biblical explanation they offer. Mystic, I think you're going to get yourself into spiritual trouble if you don't ground your beliefs more firmly in scripture. This reminds me of the twisted mess that all but caused me to lose my mind thinking I had to destroy my family to save it. G-d help anyone being targeted by someone sicking demons on them, period. They will confuse you to the point of paralyzing you and destroy you. A follower of Messiah Yeshua would never do that to someone, and this man is completely deceived if he thinks he has control over a demon to do his will. He doesn't know what He's dealing with and thinks he has power he doesn't. He's being used by demons to destroy people.

Mystic, I think you're going to get yourself into spiritual trouble if you don't ground your beliefs more firmly in scripture. This is exactly why I inquired here guys, not because I believe in what Andrew was saying but specifically because of the scriptures he was quoting. I guess I should have written down those exact scriptures, sorry now I didn't so I have nothing to refer back to. I don;t really purposely look at Andrew's shows, I simply have the TV on Daystar sometimes and whatever comes on sometimes something might be said which catches my attention. I will go through Ephesians next week to see if I can recognize the scriptures he was referring to and will post back here.

I'm just wary of when scriptures get twisted to support something wrong, and the whole idea of people professing to be believers sicking demons on each other disturbed me. I feel like all I am as a believer is a target for evil so it kind of hit a nerve. I just know once you're oppressed by evil, it's not like you can just tell it to go and it listens. That's not all there is to it, and I've submitted to every truth I know to before G-d and given over every area I know to to G-d, and I still am persistently pestered. Once you start questioning the clear and basic truths of G-d you've made yourself vulnerable to spiritual attack, and if they mislead you with the supernatural, you'll have to rebuild your faith before you can move on and be useful in the Kingdom. Otherwise, they will just cause you to waste your faith while destroying your witness.
