Hello to everyone,
Having read all the rules, I am wondering if it is possible to quote from a Bible Commentary? David's Stern's Commentary on the New Testament is very interesting, but raises questions for a Christian who is just beginning to understand how wrong the Christian Churches are being in regard to following God's commandments, and I would like to refer to what is written there, with the normal quotes used for referencing material in a published book, ie. the title, author, and pages referenced. Is that okay?

I sure hope so, since I would love to do the same...it's a fascinating book...sometimes I read the commentary, and then read the verses, instead of the other way around!
I believe that quoting a text, as I was taught in college, required the exactly wording of the quote (Ha! Much harder to do back then, with no copy and paste ability...it was HAND TYPED!), the numbering of the quote, the source volume, and the pages. And then after quoting a text without any other intervening text, one simply added to the number of the quote, typed Ibid, and the new page numbers.
Just like you see in any medical text, referencing various studies, and what not. I hope Rabbi Reuel will let us know after the Sabbath...so don't expect an answer until at least Saturday night or Sunday at the very earliest, and probably later.
And welcome to the board!

Good to have you here. Dan C

As for crediting Stern...NO Problem!
