Shalom, Well anyway, here goes We have 2 children almost 10 months apart and have decided to have their b'nai mitzvah on simcha of 2007, so their will be 2 separate readings, and they can each have their own. Our son will be 13, and daughter 12. We are training as part of their home school curriculum. For this study we will be using Vol. IV of FFOZ :B'Soret ha Machiach. We work on , haftorah, and B'rit Hadassah together, and they will study Hebrew and the trop (sp?) for their readings as well as work on a dvor speech, and thank you speech. We have already gone though vols. 1-3 with them. They also will be raising money for Heifer International to provide 3rd world families with live-stock to improve their lives. They are both interested in karate and literature, and will both be earning black belts this year, after 8 years of training, and will be required to do special projects and language study in japanese. I was thinking for their celebration party, of maybe a King David/ samuri theme since both king David was a warrior/ king/ poet, and samuri were warriors/rulers/poets this would work. What do you think? and any ideas? This will be a Home party, as they have many food allergies, so I will be doing the cooking. This will effectively limit the size of the party. PS. the dojo(training hall) where they do karate is self defence oriented, not eastern mystism. The head teacher is a believer who's grandma was a German Jew.

Shavua Tov Talmidah, I would say that so long as the Eastern Mysticism is left out then it should be fine and your children will probably enjoy it. Shalom, Natanel

They have enjoyed it, but more importently, they are learning real self defence skills, from a very good teacher. He emphasises avoiding trouble but helps them recognize that at times trouble will find them anyway; and that it is okay to defend yourself, or others you are responcible for.
What do you think of the party theme? The couse of study?

Shalom Talmidah, It sounds like a great plan to me. Keep up the good mitzvah! Let me know how it turns out. I have at least five years until my first son is Bar Mitzvah age. Shavua tov, Reuel
