1Co 8:10 For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;
I guess my qwestion would be: Why in the world are you in an idol's temple eating in the first place? I am not so sure that we fully understand what Paul is talking about here.

They are eating at idol's temples because that is what all the eateries were. It is still that way in many Asian countries. ALL the restaurants in traditional neighborhoods are actually temples for idols, as well as the businesses selling food. So impossible ot eat out without eating food that has first been offered to idols. Walk in a Chinese restaurant or Chinese grocery store in Chinatown to get an idea of what it was like in the Pagan societies of that time period. Also if you eat in someone's home, you are often eating food that has been offered to idols. Normally every home has a family altar. When I realized that Shaul was bridging across two different cultures in his letters, it caused me to understand his writing much more clearly. For persons who are monocultural and monolinguistic, it would be extremely challenging to understand where he is coming from.
