Name of Par’shah- 6.3 Toldot
Par’shah- Gen 25:19 – 28:9
Haftara- Malachi 1:1-2:7
D’rash: Why are we looking for HaSHem’s comandments in ? The following gives a partial explanation:
Genesis 26:4-5 (ESV) I will multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and will give to your offspring all these lands. And in your offspring all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because Abraham obeyed my voice and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.”
HaShem was able to bless Yitzchak because his father Avraham kept the commandments he was given. So here we have a biblical principle that our children are able to be blessed when we keep the mitzvoth. Doesn’t mean they cannot be blessed if we don’t, however it is far more likely they will be blessed if we are obedient:
Proverbs 22:6 (ESV)Train up a child in the way he should go;
even when he is old he will not depart from it.
Obviously not the only reason, but a compelling one nonetheless.
Genesis 26:24 (ESV) And the Lord appeared to him the same night and said, “I am the God of Abraham your father. Fear not, for I am with you and will bless you and multiply your offspring for my servant Abraham's sake.”
Again we see this command “Fear not.” It is repeated enough in scripture I think we can take it as a commandment. But why? Not many real commandments here again, so I did a search for some “fear not” verses. Why not fear?

Isaiah 35:4 "Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you."
Isaiah 41:13 "For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee."

Daniel 10:12 "Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words."
Daniel 10:19 "And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me."
Joel 2:21 "Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the LORD will do great things."
Zechariah 8:13 "And it shall come to pass, that as ye were a curse among the heathen, O house of Judah, and house of Israel; so will I save you, and ye shall be a blessing: fear not, but let your hands be strong."
Matthew 1:20 "But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost."

Revelation 1:17 "And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last."
In all these either God or an angel of God stands before them, and they are told not to fear, for God is about to do a work in their lives and they are not to fear circumstances or people. Either way, we are not to live in fear if we trust the Lord. I confess to having a problem here at times. Pray we all learn to trust God when He stands before us, when He prepares the way for us, when He overcomes circumstances or defeats enemies for us. Pray we learn to trust our Elohim. And “fear not.”
