PARSHA "BO"
EXODUS 10:1-13:16, JER 46:13-28, 1 COR 11:20-34
This Parsha could be called the "Passover" parsha, since it includes Pesach and the exit of B'nei Israel from Mitzraim (Egypt). Passover this year starts Friday evening the 3rd of April until the eve of the 10th of April.
We see in this study the final plagues which were directed against the false Egyptian dieties, "Ra" gets clobbered, He loses his "shine" and "Amun" gets his just desserts, how?
In chapter 12, it starts, "this month shall be unto you the beginning of months" This is the month of "Nissan" so, we can see that in accordance with God, the new year does NOT start on January 1st, this is "Man's" tradition. Ask me what I do on the eve of January 1st, and I'll tell you, "Sleep" it goes on to say on the "10th" day of the month, that each family will take a lamb and keep it until the 14th day, they will keep it alive for 5 days, then, slaughter it. When we look at the symbolic and spiritual meaning of this, we can look at it this way. The "sacrifice lamb" always symbolizes "Yeshua" so, what happened 5 days before the crucifixion? HE came into "Yerushalayim" sitting on a donkey. He came as a witness to his people, and they all greeted him "Hoshiana Ben David" (Hosanna to the Son of David) and five days later, many of them cried out "Crucify Him!" what a change in heart! of course, we can't say that about all the residents of Jerusalem, many did indeed recognize him as Messiah, if they read carefully Holy Writ.
The Israelite families in Egypt would inspect the lamb to make sure it was without blemish, (As Yeshua was and is without blemish) then, on the 14th day, the families would ; 1) slaughter it, and put the blood on the doorposts of their houses, 2) roast it over an open fire 3) eat with the lamb (or goat) bitter herbs and unleavened bread.
Remember I talk about "Amun" one of the most important gods of Egypt? Yes, well, all Egyptian dieties took form of some kind of animal, "Amun" took the form of a "ram" so, when the sheep and goats were slaughtered, the message was that of; "Hey Egyptians, look what we are doing to Amun, and he can't do anything about it!" from a Messianic view, we see the death of the sheep and goats, as "Messiah Yeshua's sacrifice on Calvary's tree" the "doorposts" of the Israelite houses were of hardwood, as was the cross of Calvary, stained with blood, as was the cross of Calvary, the doorposts was rectangular in form, like the letter "Chet" in Hebrew, which starts the word "Chai" which means "life", so, behind the closed doors, the Israelites remained with "life" through the blood on the doorposts.
the animals were "roasted" over a fire, fire symbolizes "judgment" as our "Go-ael" (Savior) was judged for our sins on the cross. The unleavened bread symbolizes Messiah's sinlessness, as we should all live a life not according to the sins of the world, yet of "Kodesh" (holiness) the "bitter herbs" speak of our sins, and a reminder to us the bitterness of them, and what Messiah endured on the cross for us all.
HaShem commands us to eat "unleavened bread" for 7 days, to remind us to live a life absent of habitual sin, of course, we all have the sin nature, but we don't have to live a "lifestyle of sin"
That night, the "Angel of death" passed over Egypt, and killed all the first born of Egypt, where ever the blood on the doorposts was not found. So, we can imagine that even the Egyptian families that took shelter with the Israelite families in Goshen, were spared, and we know that there were quite a few Egyptians that followed Moshe out of Egypt, as the "mixed multitude" So, God spared the first born of Israel, and killed the firstborn of Egypt, quite a turn in events, even the Egyptian families wanted them gone and out of Egypt, they gave them much gold, silver, fine fabrics, etc...with which the tabernacle was built, so, Pharaoh unwittingly, helped to finance the building of the tabernacle.

JEREMIAH 46:13-28
Egypt again is doomed, about 800 years later, to fall under the power and might of Babylon, God is sending a direct message to Egypt, and the power and might of that nation is gone, Even again, in 1967, the Army of Egypt was beaten in the 6 day war by the Israeli Army (IDF) Israel will prevail!, always! best be on "Zion's side" "SIDE WITH ZION, JUDAH'S LION" (Hey, that would make one awesome T-shirt)

1 CORINTHIANS 11:20-34
a very good lesson to learn on honoring the LORD's supper, it is to honor HIM, with the elements of unleavened bread and wine/grape juice, and should be taken with a clean heart and sins repented of, to participate in with a clean heart, and right relation with HIM is a must.
